Delta leaves a note that her suitcase got ‘minor’ damage. Then she sees how they left it: ‘I don’t want to know what major damage is’

A woman flies Delta Airlines to her tropical vacation and receives a message that her suitcase sustained “minor damage.” When she opens up the plastic bag it’s delivered in, she questions what happened.
In a video with over 559,000 views, TikToker Kelly (@itsbabykelz) shares a clip of her suitcase, which was delivered to the resort in a large trash bag. She shows a picture of the suitcase in good condition prior to her flight.
She rips the bag off the corner of the metal suitcase, which is now warped with her items spilling from the sides.
A note attached to the bag reads, “Pax signed original tag for minor damage. Bag got more damage going down the belt. Pax is requesting bag as is.”
Kelly tries to stand the warped suitcase on its wheels and it quickly topples over.
“Oh she doesn’t even stand up,” she remarks. On-screen text asks, “Genuinely where does one go from here…plz help.”
What Should You Do If Delta Damages Your Luggage?
According to Delta Airlines‘ website, passengers can submit a claim with Delta’s baggage office after receiving their luggage. Claims have to be reported within 7 days for international trips and within 6 hours for domestic ones.
Delta will review the claim and potentially offer compensation for the damage. On the r/Delta subreddit, passengers share how the airline handled their damage claims.
“Delta has given me 4 replacement suitcases at this point. I go down to the bag office of the airport, show them what’s f—, and they’ve twice given me a reimbursement for a new one and twice they’ve given me a replacement suitcase,” one shares.
“The luggage office made me fill out a claim after looking at me luggage. Mine also had a missing wheel,” another says. “Their luggage damage emailed me and directed me to a website where I picked out a new luggage which was sent to me in a week.”
Some commenters point out that her bag resembles the luxury suitcase brand Rimowa. The brand offers a lifetime warranty for some damage to the suitcases. Although it excludes damages caused by airlines, as the airline is liable for reimbursing the passenger.
However, Kelly does not confirm the brand of her luggage.

Viewers React to the Damage
Viewers joke about the sorry state of the suitcase in the comments of the viral video.
“Minor damage? They put that suitcase in its luteal phase, for life. It has more injuries than an NFL players,” one remarks.
Another says, “If this catastrophe is minor damage, so bigger damages, was if they send you only the wheels probably, Jesus.”
“Did the plain ride on this suitcase?!?!” a third asks.
Others suggest that the TikToker should receive further compensation for the damages.
“I think mandatory paying needs to be introduced to airlines every time they make any sort of damage to a bag. That’s honestly insane,” a commenter says.
“They should have just sent you two new ones plus a gift card to replace all your items,” a second writes.
The Mary Sue reached out to Kelly via TikTok direct message and email and to Delta Airlines via email for further comment.
