The Coldplay Kiss Cam debacle just keeps going

Coldplay Kiss Cam drama this close to 2026? It’s more likely than you would think! Kristin Cabot is the woman who was caught on camera cuddled up with Astronomer CEO Andy Byron. She sat down with The New York Times and The Times in the UK to talk about the viral moment.
She spoke with the publication about how it’s affected her career personally. For her part, Cabot is scared for her job prospects after the high profile scandal spread across social media like wildfire. To hear it in her words, she is currently “unemployable.” In this current timeline, it’s more likely that most of these companies are a little wary of hiring someone who is one of the two public facing members of a viral Internet moment.
“It has been like a scarlet letter; people erased everything I’d accomplished in my life and achieved in my career,” Cabot to the United Kingdom publication. “This can’t be the final word.” Cabot served as Astronomer’s Chief People Officer (aka H.R. director) for about a year. Bryon, the CEO sharing that cursed camera angle, also departed his role as CEO.
It’s not like this woman is the only high profile instance of infidelity on TV or media this year. (We all remember the newscasters having a secret affair right in front of us recently too!) It’s important to note that Byron only began separation proceedings with his wife after the footage made it across every social media feed in America. Cabot had already begun divorcing her then-husband Andrew Cabot. But, yeah, even so, a wild look for everyone involved. She’ll get another chance. But, the drama just will not die in the age of social media that we’ve crafted for ourselves.
Coldplay Kiss Cam drama is back on the menu

All of those eyeballs contributed to some scrutiny on her workplace. In this interview with the New York Times, Cabot talked about how the people at Astronomer wanted to keep her on despite the nascent social media controversy. (This just goes to show you that there are different rules for different people. If you were a lower ranking person caught in this kind of scandal, there’s very little chance you would be kept on after embarrassing the company and yourself this way.)
“I could not imagine how I could stand up as H.R. chief when I was a laughingstock,” Cabot told the paper. She would talk more about her responsibility to the organization. The H.R. professional added, “There was a lot of noise around me not taking accountability, but what actually happened is the board said, ‘Please stay.’ And I said, ‘How, given my job is to be the one to show people how we are expected to behave, our standards, our values?’ “
A 53-year-old woman talking about this with a glossy photo shoot in “the paper of record” is eye roll stuff. (This all makes sense when you take into account other rehabilitation causes this particular newspaper has undertaken in recent weeks.) No, no one should be throwing a rock at Miss Cabot for a moment of high profile infidelity. But, we don’t have to feel sorry for her either. It’s never fun to be on the other side of Internet ridicule. But, as multiple correspondence on social media have pointed out, she was sloppy! And, that distinction probably makes all the difference one day “you used to rule the world,” and then you don’t.
