Man goes to Cicis Pizza in Myrtle Beach. Then he sees something crawling. The manager has a shocking response

When dining at a restaurant, customers expect a high level of cleanliness. From top to bottom, every nook and cranny of the establishment should meet health code standards. For one South Carolina man, this was not the case during his trip to Cicis Pizza.

Ew, What Happened At Cicis Pizza?

The video features TikToker Mike (@theunclemike75) documenting his time inside the Myrtle Beach location. So far, it is off to a rocky start, as children are shouting in the background.

“Can y’all guess where I am from all the crying and screaming?” he asks 1.3 million viewers. “No, I’m not in hell. I’m in Cicis.”

Besides the chaos, he says it hasn’t been sanitary thus far. “This place is dirty as [expletive],” he says, flipping the camera to reveal his leaky beverage on a table, soaking a napkin underneath it. But that’s not even the worst of it.

“I’m pretty sure COVID started in Cicis because there’s so many germs and bacteria in this [expletive] place,” the content creator remarks, bursting into laughter.

Unbeknownst to him, there would be a grain of truth. While chowing down on another round of pizza, Mike uncovers a fat white maggot inching quickly on the table.

“We are waiting for a manager. How about this [expletive] maggot just crawled out from this pan of pizza that they just brought out?” he asks, panning over the round metal tray consisting of half-eaten and untouched pizza slices. “A literal maggot in the Cicis Pizza.”

How Did Management Handle It?

According to the content creator, not very well. He stands next to the counter, filming a man at the digital cash register, concealed by a female employee working.

“Then, we’re telling the manager here, and he’s over here questioning, like we’re [expletive] lying,” he says. “Who’s gonna lie about a [expletive] maggot?”

To make matters worse, Mike believes the manager didn’t handle the situation properly. “He wants to get an attitude. He refunded one of my friends who complained about the maggot but not the rest of us,” he shares, walking outside the building. “Y’all got maggots in your store.” 

Before wrapping up, he sets his new bug bestie into the wild.

“Look, y’all. We brought it out,” Mike says, filming the maggot crawling. “Bye, Mr. Maggot man. You like the Cicis Pizza? What’y your favorite part: the bread or the pepperoni?”

Viewers Are Disgusted

“THE MAGGOT IS MOVING TOO [expletive] QUICK FOR MEEE [expletive] NO,” one viewer commented.

“I’m overstimulated by the maggot,” a second remarked.

Meanwhile, others shared what they would’ve done in his situation.

“Y’all better than me. I would’ve stood up and made a public announcement,” one commenter revealed.

“I would’ve thrown up on the [expletive] table and made the manager clean it up [expletive] nahhhh,” another stated.

“The way I would’ve been sitting there until we ALL got a refund & the health inspector shook my hand. [Expletive] nah,” a third said.

So, How Does A Maggot Wind Up Inside Cicis Pizza?

Whether it’s at the pizzeria or any restaurant, this is relatively common, especially during the summer. Flies are lured in by the scent of food waste, infiltrating the building’s cracks and crevices to snack on rotting vegetables and fruit along with trash in the kitchen, according to Food Safety Magazine.

From there, these critters satiate their appetite for soft foods through sucking up their fluids while simultaneously defecating on them, spreading diseases and contaminating everything they touch.

Since restaurant kitchens provide a warm, moist environment with food at their disposal, it can become a hub for the insects to thrive and lay their eggs. Females can deposit dozens of eggs at once and reproduce afterward. Once the flies reach full maturity within less than a couple of weeks (the larvae hatching into maggots during the second stage), they are able to multiply. This continuous cycle is a recipe for an infestation, which is a health code violation.

If you spot a maggot or other insects in your local restaurant, it can be reported to your county’s Department of Public Health.
