British Media Cannot Handle Prince Harry Being… Personable?

The Telegraph has taken issue with Prince Harry’s messages with a journalist from 2011. The scandalous messages reveal that Harry suggested ‘movie snuggles’ with the woman. Oh, the horrors!

Charlotte Griffiths, the woman in question, alleged that they had an ongoing relationship from 2011 to 2012. Harry said otherwise, stating that he had immediately cut off contact once he found out that she was a journalist. Regardless of how long they’d been in contact, it doesn’t really matter. Harry didn’t cheat on Duchess Meghan Markle—this happened way before they got together.

So, what’s the actual issue? Is it that Harry went out with an adult woman as an adult man trying to date? The struggle for headlines is real, but there’s nothing worse than making controversies out of thin air when there are much more entertaining matters out in the wild.

With the facts out in the open and the messages exchanged, it only looks as if Harry is a normal guy who’s extremely charismatic. It would only be an issue if the one he’s trying to talk to is a young girl who’s barely out of high school—that would be nauseating, illegal, and grounds for a revolution.

Making a big deal about nothing

Social media mocked the non-issue. Others noted that it’s already 2026, so who cares about a thing that happened more than a decade ago? If it had been 2011, perhaps it would’ve been worth covering—because having a member of the press with a royal family member would have made an interesting dynamic. It would sound like the start of an enemies-to-lovers story, but it’s just a fling of the past.

An X user commented, “Running out of headlines.” Because what else is there to say if who Harry dated was a working woman? Unless he’d done something untoward to her, it’s not worth talking about. Not to mention, it’s rather unethical that private correspondences could be reported on this way.

The real issue is that something as private as this could be published for gossip material. It doesn’t concern public interest or safety—but it does generate clicks. Either way, it’s a non-issue turned ethical violation.

One X user wrote, “NEWSFLASH: British press is found shocked that there’s actually a British prince who likes adult women and not little girls.” This was clearly a dig at disgraced Andrew Mountbatten, who was rid of his title as prince because of his involvement with prolific child sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein.

A battle with British tabloids

Being hounded like this, who needs enemies when Harry has tabloids leaking information about his life the way they do? It certainly gives context to why he’s suing tabloids in the UK for invading his privacy.

Harry is not alone in suing Associated Newspapers Limited, the publisher of the Daily Mail. Elton John, Sadie Frost, and Elizabeth Hurley were also included in the case against the tabloid. They allege that Associated Newspapers Limited hired private investigators to place listening devices in their cars and homes to record calls.

An angry Prince Harry claimed in court that the tabloids had “an endless pursuit, a campaign, an obsession with having every aspect of my life under surveillance so they could get the run on their competitors.” The judge is yet to weigh in on the matter, and the verdict will be delivered sometime in April 2026.
