Bartender says ‘creepy’ man wouldn’t take no for an answer—but being kicked out doesn’t stop him: ‘I’d choose the bear every time’

A woman on TikTok is sharing her friend’s recent experience at work that has both of them “choosing the bear” every single time. That’s because a creep didn’t just harass her friend at work. He also walked up to her at a neighboring bar, practically breathed on her neck, and then threatened to backhand someone when he was called out.

TikToker Natalie Carter has a friend who works at a two-story bar in their area. While Carter’s friend is used to men creeping on her, she didn’t expect one to be so blatant and terrifying. She ended up kicking him out of the bar entirely that night, something that ruined part of her shift.

What happened?

Carter received a message from her friend asking whether she’d drop by the bar next door after her shift, so she ended up there that night to chat through the terrible evening. That’s when she ended up seeing the man who had ruined her friend’s shift only hours prior.

This time, he wouldn’t let up on buying Carter’s friend a drink or harassing her. The situation ended up escalating, though, with Carter pointing a steak knife at the customer during an altercation inside the neighboring bar. Then, after they finished dinner, they went outside to find that he had waited an hour for them because he had been kicked out again.

Carter described the terrifying situation in a video with over 372,000 views.

Carter gets a message from her friend to visit

Carter had gotten a few messages from her friend about an unruly customer she had served. A man had apparently peered over at her from the stairwell of a two-story bar and harassed her during her shift, which had ruined her day.

After that point, the bartender wanted nothing more than to get happy hour and watch the beach at a neighboring restaurant. So, Carter and her sister decided to meet up with her and chat about the encounter.

Carter and her sister arrived at the bar, and everything was going well until the bartender noticed that the man she had just kicked out was meandering in this location. Fear quickly set in as she briefly explained who he was to her friends.

That’s when the unruly customer noticed the bartender. The man strolled over to Carter’s friend and asked her why she had kicked him out of the bar. Then, he started asking whether he could buy her a drink. The former customer even felt brazen enough to get extremely close to the bartender, so much so that she could probably feel his breath on her skin.

Carter and her sister knew that the situation wasn’t safe. So, Carter’s sister said something.

“My sister looks at him and is like, ‘Um, excuse me. If you can feel her breath on you, you’re too close to her. Back up,’” Carter recalled. “The man has the audacity to turn around to my sister and go, ‘what did you say [expletive]?’”

The man allegedly raised his hand toward her sister, which is when Carter snapped into action.

Carter does something out of character to drive the creep away

Carter didn’t know what compelled her to do what she did next, but she grabbed a steak knife that was sitting on their table and pointed it straight at him. She abruptly told him that if he took another step toward the table, she would take his hand off.

The man quickly tried to downplay the situation, backing up. Chaos erupted as managers and servers quickly tried to de-escalate the situation. Carter then explained that the man’s tone and behavior felt threatening. She told them she was simply defending herself and her family.

The restaurant staff decided to kick him out, which gave them a bit of peace of mind. But that peace only lasted through their dinner.

The man waits for them outside

When they finished their dinner, they strolled outside, expecting to just head home like normal. They had spent around an hour inside without any disturbances. So, when they walked outside, they didn’t necessarily expect the man to be waiting for them.

As soon as he noticed they were outside, he started pacing toward them. The group quickly made a beeline for the bar that Carter’s friend works at, bypassing security and heading inside. From there, the man ended up spending the next few hours pacing outside the premises and yelling insults toward the bar.

The women called the police, who could do little to stop the situation. While waiting for them to arrive, they ended up spending four hours at the neighboring bar. The man sat outside for two of those hours.

The police never did end up arriving, so the night ended just as terribly as the bartender’s shift hours before. Carter explained that the entire experience showed her why women choose the bear, something that she emphasized in her post.

Commenters share their experiences

Commenters added their own experiences after seeing Carter’s post, with many saying that being a woman means having at least one terrifying encounter with a man at some point.

One woman shared that she was followed in Los Angeles’ central station all the way from Anaheim. She had been having a terrible day prior to the situation, which made her snap at some point. She ended up whipping around and walking straight toward him, something that scared the man. “He didn’t know what to do for a minute and tried to close the gap but then realized I was accelerating and he turned and started running from me,” the woman described. “I’m not proud of it, but I chased him from the train terminals to the Starbucks before I realized what I was doing.”

Another commenter put the situation into a new perspective for any men watching: “I want every dude to imagine this story but instead of these girls it’s them and their guy friends and some dude comes up and acts all weird and wants to get up on them. and when they say ‘no,’ he gets weirdly aggressive,” ” one viewer said. I want dudes to tell me what they would do right then and there.”
