McDonald’s Manager Appears To Discipline Older Employee in Front of Customers. Then Viewers Call Out His Behavior: ‘Shame Him on Purpose’
This Struck a Nerve Online

Fast-food managers sometimes have to deal with employees who make mistakes. But having that conversation where customers and other workers can hear it can quickly make an uncomfortable situation worse.
That concern is not unusual in fast-food workplaces, where employees have called out everything from how management treated them after an incident to what can cost someone their job. This time, however, it was where the conversation happened that caught people’s attention.
TikTok creator Señor Barragan (@senor_barragan) shared a video from a McDonald’s in Fort Myers, Florida, showing an older employee sitting at a table with paperwork while a woman who appears to be a manager stands next to him. They are in the restaurant’s dining area, and viewers quickly questioned why the conversation was happening there.
This Raised a Few Eyebrows
Barragan describes the interaction as a manager disciplining an employee in a public area of the restaurant. His main concern was not simply that the worker was being disciplined, but that the conversation was happening where customers and other employees could hear it.
“That is not professional,” a person can be heard saying in the footage. “They should have a office for that.”
Barragan agreed with that reaction. According to him, people who regularly visit the location described the employee as “super nice” and “super friendly.” He also claims someone identifying themselves as an employee at the restaurant said the man was eventually fired.
Barragan alleges the employee only worked part-time and was being written up because he had not cleaned certain areas well enough before leaving work. Those details have not been independently verified, and the paperwork shown in the video is not clear enough to establish what disciplinary action, if any, was being taken.
Still, Barragan argued that even if the worker had failed to do his job properly, management could have handled the matter differently. “Even if he was a bad employee, if he dropped the ball, if he had to be fired, this is not the setting to do it,” he said.
For him, having the conversation within earshot of customers and coworkers raised another question. “Are you trying to shame him on purpose?”
Barragan also pushed back against the idea that his concern was simply about the worker being older. He explained that he does not believe people automatically deserve respect because of their age, but argued that employees should still be allowed some dignity when workplace problems are addressed.
“No matter what this employee did, which in this case, it seemed like he was not cleaning the tables well enough, he did not deserve to be publicly humiliated in front of customers and co-workers,” Barragan said. “Corrective action needs to be handled privately and professionally.”
Viewers had plenty to say about the interaction as well. One commenter recognized the worker, writing, “That’s Mister Robert.”
Some reactions focused directly on management. “She need training,” one viewer wrote. Another said, “Manager should be fired. You never do this publicly.”
One person claiming to be a former McDonald’s employee wrote, “I used to work at McDonald’s and they HAVE an office in the back. she brought him there to humiliate him.” However, they did not confirm whether this location had an available private office or why the conversation happened at the table.
Another commenter claiming to have worked at the same location described the man as “a very, VERY nice man” and alleged that personal information was being discussed during the conversation. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.
Barragan ultimately argued that whether the employee deserved a warning or even termination was separate from how management chose to handle it. Judging by the comments, many viewers had reached the same conclusion: whatever was written on that paperwork, they did not think the dining room was the place to discuss it.
