Woman looks into the ocean from her cruise ship at dark. Then she checks exactly where the ship is sailing: ‘the Bermuda Triangle’

One woman’s cruise experience took a turn for the terrifying when she realized where the ship was headed. During the middle of the night, a lady named Victoria took a long look into the abyss and realized that she was staring right into the Bermuda Triangle. She posted about the experience on TikTok from @victorias.way. In her purple and yellow striped pajamas, Victoria looked visibly shaken.

It’s common practice for a TikTok caption to capture the vibe succinctly, and this video definitely qualifies as you read “Cruises are fun until you realize…” Victoria took a look at that dark water all around and immediately pulled out her phone. When you realize her map application is open, and the text shifts to “How dark the ocean is… And you’re sailing through the Bermuda Triangle,” the alarm bells start going off in your head.  

Things got introspective from there as she asked her followers if they would be brave enough to travel through the Bermuda Triangle. As Victoria argues on the screen, “You’re miles away from land, surrounded by nothing but ocean…” The sight had some people in the comments shaken by the revelation. The TikToker’s caption also reads, “I thought cruises were relaxing… until I realized how scary the ocean can actually be.” That’s a whole lot of water and not a ton of answers.

Was She Really in the Bermuda Triangle?

Folks following along with the TikTok video notice that Victoria can’t stop looking at that inky black water. Her on-screen text continues to mention the “mysterious disappearances” that plagued both ships and planes in the previous century. In pop culture, no one has isolated exactly why the Bermuda Triangle is this hotbed of disappearances. Victoria’s video takes a turn into even spookier circumstances. As the ship “gets caught in a storm,” the unease of the scene grips our narrator.

As Victoria closes the cabin door to the balcony, the text on-screen says that this cruise “doesn’t feel so relaxing anymore.” By this point, a lot of the comments have exited the chat emotionally. It’s not like you can just leave a cruise like that in progress. Especially if the people involved are superstitious. Over at the National Ocean Service website, they’re trying to quell superstition. But, even they have to admit there are few answers when it comes to this section of ocean.

“The U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard contend that there are no supernatural explanations for disasters at sea.  Their experience suggests that the combined forces of nature and human fallibility outdo even the most incredulous science fiction,” the NOAA writes. “They add that no official maps exist that delineate the boundaries of the Bermuda Triangle. The U. S. Board of Geographic Names does not recognize the Bermuda Triangle as an official name and does not maintain an official file on the area.” Hopefully, anyone on a cruise knows things could get a little weird.
