Woman Says Planet Fitness Turned off the Music and Locked the Doors While She Was in the Shower: ‘Let Me Out’
A woman who was hoping to get a little workout in before the fourth of July holidays found herself in a rather crazy situation after gym staff locked up and left while she was in the showers. The woman recorded herself for TikTok as she walked around the silent and completely empty gym as she wondered how she’d ever get out of there.
The clip was posted by Victoria Marie, and it quickly went viral, reaching almost a million views in a single day. In the short video she can be seen recording the clearly empty gym as she explains that she went to take a shower after her workout and when she came back out everybody was gone.
“I come out, and there’s no one here, the music is turned off, the TVs are turned off.” Victoria then points the camera to a sign which she evidently missed when she came in. The sign says: “Planet Fitness will be closing early to celebrate July 4th.” The sign lists the closing time as 2 p.m. on Saturday. It seems that the staff somehow missed Victoria when they shut up shop, Planet Fitness staff are usually a lot more vigilant.
The worst part is that the front door is locked, meaning Victoria can’t even leave until a member of staff comes back for her. “I am currently waiting for a keyholder to hopefully get here and let me out,” she says.
Did Victoria escape Planet Fitness?
Unfortunately Victoria hasn’t come back to TikTok with an update as of writing, although we can assume someone eventually came back to unlock the door for her. Her replies to some of the comments certainly suggest she is no longer waiting in the gym.
Meanwhile, people in the comments took the opportunity to share their strong opinions on Planet Fitness. “Planet Fitness is The WORST,” wrote one person. In fairness, Planet Fitness is a strange place where strange things happen on the regular. Another claimed it was “criminal for planet fitness to be closing early on holiday hours.” adding that “Not everyone goes to family’s house on holidays lol.”
One person said they “Would’ve been in there trying all the workouts that I know I’d look stupid trying around other people,” which isn’t a bad idea if we’re being honest.
Someone did point out that there was a latch on the door that Victoria could have probably used to unlock the door, but another person claimed it would likely set off an alarm. Another recommended Victoria open it anyway but she responded, “But then I get questions and I am on camera and I frequent this location.” It seems Victoria wasn’t too stressed about the whole situation, she added, “I was fine to wait.”
