New York City Ex-Mobster Wife Shares What Mafia Men Look For in Women 'Hopefully, He Doesn't Pick You.'

Some things are good on paper, but not in reality. Mafia romance novels are the same, according to Ally K (@anonymousally198), who was once a mobster’s wife. She told TikTok why most women are not just going to be “chosen” by a man from the mob—and it’s probably for the best.

“Here’s a list of reasons why a mobster’s never going to pick you. If your mafia romance novels came to life, it would never be you,” Ally said. She’s not saying that other women aren’t special or that not being chosen by these men is a bad thing. In fact, according to Ally, being picked by her ex-husband “ruined” her life.

Ally listed ten reasons.

Reason #1: You want him.

Ally recalled her experience with her ex-husband, who once came into the bank she used to work at every single month before he spoke to her. Too many people were swooning over him, but she remembers being the only woman who remained unimpressed by him.

Interestingly, the first time he spoke to Ally, it was to ask her on a trip somewhere.

Reason #2: You’re not patient enough for a mafia man.

Ally said that her ex didn’t even kiss her for two weeks, in what seemed to be an incredible slow burn. It has to do with being in control and knowing how to create tension. There’s thrill in the chase. For a man who lives on adrenaline, having something that he couldn’t have dangled before him is maddening.

Reason #3: You’re not private enough.

Ally stated as the third reason. People who post too much on social media wouldn’t be preferred by these men who tend to keep their lives private. Ally said that every single picture she had with her ex was a candid shot that he didn’t know she was taking.

“He’s never going to smile for a selfie,” Ally recalled of her ex. The one family photo they had as a family was when he was wheeling Ally out of the hospital with their newborn. Even then, it was just a leather-jacketed arm with a fancy watch pushing her and the baby in the wheelchair.

Reason #4: You’re not unique enough.

Ally revealed as the third reason. She continued, “You have Instagram face, and you look like everybody else.” Essentially, Ally believes that mafia men look for a “unique” type of beauty, with a preference for women who look Italian. Perhaps the reasoning applies to men in the Italian mob.

Ally said that her ex thought she was Italian at first. He also used to talk about how he loved her unique, green eyes and her crooked smile. It’s not about perfection but about having a distinct look.

Reason #5: You ask too many questions.

The explanation she gave was the stuff of the novels. Ally recalled one time she was sitting on her husband’s lap at a hot garage, all while helping him create explosives. The situation didn’t irk her at all. In fact, Ally said things got “explosive” between them after.

“You ask way too many questions about where the money comes from,” Ally said as part of the fourth reason. As a person who is immersed in dubious activities, there are simply too many things that spouses are better off not knowing. Ally thinks the relationship is doomed if the wife can’t come to terms that it’s better that she doesn’t know what’s going on.

Essentially, the women who get into a relationship with these men need to be the ride-or-die types.

Reason #6: You’re too big of a gossip.

Ally said that even her own family didn’t know that her husband was in the mafia until the raid. They just assumed that they were wealthy, which goes to show how many secrets Ally kept for her husband’s sake. She also shared that at one point, her ex dug a hole in her family’s backyard and filled it with explosives for their fourth of July party.

“Que sera, sera,” she quipped. But for those who couldn’t keep a secret, dating a man from the mafia would be a miserable experience.

Reason #7: You’re an independent boss babe.

“It is his and only his job, only, to provide for you, unless you need to cover up his tax evasion,” Ally said. While there are women who would prefer to be homemakers, being a mobster’s wife doesn’t offer much room for personal ambition.

“If you’re bored easily of sitting home, looking beautiful, doing your hair, shopping, and eating out at restaurants for every single meal, he’s not going to pick you,” she explained.

Reason #8: You don’t like to dress up.

“You’re gonna be in a lot of really nice restaurants, mainly Italian,” Ally said. Her husband used to compliment her when she dressed up every time. Essentially, it’s part of a mobster wife’s obligation to look presentable.

Reason #9: You’re not a jetsetter.

“Just get on an airplane with what you got on your back and worry about the details later,” Ally said. Based on her experience, she’s done a lot of traveling while she was in a relationship with her ex.

For those who prefer the comfort of staying up, a life with a man from the mob isn’t for them.

Reason #10: You’re not a gambler.

“If you don’t like to gamble, my boyfriend is not the type for you. Especially if you think gambling is tone-deaf,” Ally said. It appeared to be part of the lifestyle. Regardless, Ally gambled with him, throwing thousands of dollars into slot machines and betting her eyes at the blackjack table.

You can’t change him, so don’t try.

“You think you can change him? Because you can’t,” Ally said. She claimed that every mobster she’s ever known had been transparent to their significant other about who they are and that they will not try to change. The women that they’ve chosen just have to accept the cards that they’re dealt with.

But what if they can’t accept it and they can’t be that man’s ride-or-die?

For those with children, Ally said that they’ll be met with a cruel choice: “You have to choose between your child having a present father or a living mother.” A man who has built his life on crime will never be safe. Those closest to him will always be in harm’s reach, waiting to pay the price for his crimes.

“Hopefully, he doesn’t pick you,” Ally wished for her viewers on TikTok. Her post had been met with a range of reactions. Some expressed sympathy for Ally over her experiences. Meanwhile, others were sighing in relief, knowing that a local mobster won’t pick them anytime soon.

One commenter even joked, “I think we just found YN,” because Ally’s experiences seem like they’d been pulled straight from a novel with her as the main character. But her story goes to show that some fantasies are best kept in books.
