Amidst Her Break-Up, Megan Thee Stallion Leaves ‘Moulin Rouge!’ on Broadway
Following her shocking breakup from NBA star Klay Thompson, Megan Thee Stallion is stepping away from the current Broadway production of Moulin Rouge!.
On Tuesday, it was announced that the beloved rapper and musician will be leaving her role of Zidler on Friday, May 1st. This is more than two weeks earlier than her scheduled exit, which was supposed to be after the May 17th performance. A replacement performer will be announced at a later date.
“It’s been such an honor to be part of Moulin Rouge and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater. Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work,” she said in a statement. “Every single person at the Moulin Rouge has inspired me to go harder as an entertainer. I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. Y’all are really some of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met! To all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!”
This comes after Megan accused Thompson of infidelity on social media over the weekend, writing on her Instagram Stories that the two of them had broken up. The pair have been romantically linked since July of 2025.
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet,’” she wrote in a post shared on Instagram Stories. “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season, now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous????’ Bitch I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall.”
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she later said in an official statement. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Why Did Megan Thee Stallion Leave Moulin Rouge!?
This isn’t the first time that Megan has had to step away from her buzzy role in Moulin Rouge!, as she was previously hospitalized for exhaustion and other illnesses in mid-Apirl.
“On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting.”
Once she returned to the show two days later, Megan called the ordeal “a real wake-up call,” adding, “I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t. Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting yall down.”
