‘Did the journal factory explode’: Man sends Maryland woman voicemail after their first date. She blocks him after his concerning confession
While getting disappointed by someone you like is never pleasant, it’s usually better to find out sooner rather than later when dating. For one woman, that realization came after just one date… through a disturbing voicemail.
TikTok creator Reesie (@urmom6917) shared a screen recording of the voice note her date sent her, in a video that has gotten over 462,400 views.
“Dating as a woman is the hardest escape room I’ve ever been in,” she wrote in the video’s text overlay.
What Did the Date Confess?
In the message, the man says he wanted to be upfront before things went any further.
“I just wanted to explain this on the voice message because it sounds so… stupid,” he says. “ I should just get this out of the way.”
He then gets into what he describes as a key part of his personality.
“I’m super, like, hypersexual,” he says. “And if that infringes on you, um, let me know if that makes you uncomfortable.”
He continues, acknowledging how it might come across.
“You’re gonna think I’m obviously just looking for [expletive],” he says. “But I’ll be honest right now, straight up…”
He goes on to say it’s something that’s always on his mind.
“I truly am so hypersexual that it’s… I’m not saying I think about it every second, but definitely… maybe every minute,” he says.
He ends the message by saying he hopes it doesn’t cause issues.
“I just hope that doesn’t affect anything,” he says. “And if it does, please let me know if I cross the line.”
In the caption, Reesie added that she didn’t stick around to find out. “Don’t worry he was swiftly blocked,” she wrote.
Commenters Feel Uncomfortable On Her Behalf
Many viewers empathized with what she may have been feeling.
“I’m feeling infringed upon,” one person wrote.
“My eyes rolled completely around the planet,” another said.
One user joked that some thoughts don’t need to be shared. “Did the journal factory explode?” a third asked.
Another commenter added, “I didn’t wanna scroll cause I was scared to leave you with him, girl.”
Is The Confession Cause for Concern?
While the fact that the date was open and honest from the beginning is a good sign, the content of the message raises concerns.
What he described isn’t typical behavior, and could point to something like compulsive sexual behavior disorder, or sex addiction. People diagnosed with the condition experience “strong sexual thoughts, urges, or behaviors that feel hard to control,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
More importantly, it’s not a harmless quirk or personality trait, but something you should treat. Treatment can include therapy, support systems, and, in some cases, medication.
