American Airlines let down an L.A. influencer with no Wi-Fi or proper pillows in First Class: ‘it should feel like 1st class not economy plus’

Los Angeles-based influencer Leo Speki is going all guns blazing at American Airlines for charging a fortune and failing to deliver proper service. On March 9, 2025, he took to his Tiktok account, @leoskepi, to make strong arguments in his favour, highlighting how he overpaid for an American Airlines seat that offered little value. He appeared angry throughout the video, which drew much attention as people discussed the issue in the comments. So, what does he actually say?

Leo Speki states in his video that he is upset about paying around a thousand dollars for first-class seats for himself and his sister on American Airlines, plus 25 dollars for Wi-Fi , but not being granted access to the service. Additionally, he noted that although he chose seats that could be converted into flat beds, he wasn’t provided with pillows or blankets, which he found confusing since he paid a high price for them. All of this has made Kepi angry, and he is raising awareness about the problem on TikTok.

TikTok user @leoskepi is lashing out at American Airlines

As previously mentioned, Leo Speki uploaded a video to his TikTok account listing the ways he was disappointed with American Airlines’ service. In addition to the Wi-Fi services, which he had to pay for separately but were not provided, Speki also noted that his and his sister’s first-class bed seats did not come with blankets and pillows. He further highlighted that he saw the regular first-class seats but noticed they did not have TVs at the back of the seats.

Bringing all these shortcomings to everyone’s attention, Speki emphasised how it was not economical to fly with American Airlines. Additionally, he strongly urged American Airlines to reduce its prices or improve its services to justify its high prices and stop being “greedy.” He concluded his rant by saying he prefers to fly with Delta Airlines but occasionally has to fly with American Airlines, sometimes for reasons beyond his control. He wants them to know that they are not his first choice.

Leo Speki’s rant about American Airlines has invited a lot of conversation

Several people have commented on Leo Speki’s video, sharing their thoughts, and most agree with what he is saying. User @momonamissionaf wrote, “They are charging you for a successful landing at this point.” User @muffinfart88 wrote, “if your paying for a 1st class ticket everything should be included and it should feel like 1st class not economy plus.”

Many people representing other airlines asked Speki to fly with them instead next time. User @brookiewalk wrote, “Hawaiian airlines flight attendant here..we have faaast free Wi-Fi  and give blankets/pillows in our lie flat seats. Come fly with meee !!! I’m obsessed with you.” User @chrispypyro wrote, “Delta Fa here. Keep on flying with us. We are getting some remodels done on our 757 and keep building.”

Does Delta Airlines offer free WIFI?

Yes, as of now, Delta Airlines offers free Wi-Fi to its passengers. According to Delta’s official website, free Wi-Fi is available for all SkyMiles Members on most domestic and international flights on a regular basis. In the meantime, the company continues to expand its service to include more flights worldwide.

Once you are onboard your American Airlines flight, these are the steps you need to follow to connect to the Wi-Fi:

  • Go to the settings menu of your chosen device (phone, tablet, laptop, others)
  • Enable Airplane mode and then turn on the Wi-Fi.
  • Next, connect to the DeltaWiFi.com network. If the sign-in page does not appear on your screen, manually type DeltaWiFi.com into your browser of choice and then follow the instructions.
