This Improvised 4-Minute Rick and Morty Episode Is Funnier Than Any Summer Blockbuster

Recommended Videos

Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, Spencer Grammer, and writer Ryan Ridley improvised a short episode of Rick and Morty for New York Magazine and it’s way funnier than any of this summer’s big feature films. Is that a comment on the quality of films I’m seeing this season or a testament to how funny I think poop jokes are? (Probably both.)

Combining the improv background much of the team has (Justin Roiland has said before that he improvises on the show quite often) and the hilarious ridiculousness that we’re used to seeing on Rick and Morty, it’s not surprising that the group has such good chemistry in this clip. The episode, titled “Summer’s Future,” begins with Morty’s sister wondering where she should go to college while Rick tries to inject 120 cc’s of feces into Morty’s knees. Roiland switches between his two characters with ease, and Harmon crushes it with his scene changes and Eric Clapton score.

Leaving us on a cliffhanger about eyelash-Morty and Nebutron, Roiland exclaims, “Oh my God, this is the beginning of the Rick and Morty movie!” Because what better way to kick things off than a cow-headed demon destroying your garage?
