Despite his death in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seems that Superman will be coming back in a sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel. As TheWrap reports, someone familiar with the project said that the sequel has just entered active development, which is to say that it’s currently being worked on, as opposed to, I don’t know, not being worked on. Since this is just a rumor, there aren’t any plot details or characters to share, though we can almost certainly expect Henry Cavill to reprise his role as Superman.
TheWrap’s source also said, “Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.” That’s interesting, considering the fact that other reports lay the blame for Suicide Squad‘s apparent suck at the feet of Warner Bros. and studio meddling. Whether or not they actually “get the character right for audiences” remains yet to be seen in nearly any DC movie thus far.
It’ll be interesting to see how they want to bring Superman back after he died fighting Doomsday in Batman v Superman. There was a hint that he’d be coming back at the end of the movie, what with the strange floating rocks at his grave after his funeral. As well, apparently he was slated to be appearing in the upcoming superhero team-up, Justice League.
Honestly, given the low bar already set by the post-Death of Superman storylines in the comics, however they decide to bring him back on-screen should be fine. R-r… right?
