Those lucky enough to attend the Nashville premiere of the Hank Williams biopic, I Saw the Light, were in for a very special treat. That’s right – star Tom Hiddleston singing some country.
Singing a short set of Williams’ classics including, “Hey Good Lookin’,” “Why Don’t You Love Me Like You Used To Do,” and “Move It On Over,” Hiddleston showed off what months of training to sing and play like Hank Williams could do. It’s kind of awesome to see Hiddleston go in and out of character (and accents), and he performs the songs solidly! And adorably – but he can’t help that.
Meanwhile, co-star and fellow Marvel-ite Elizabeth Olsen (who plays Audrey Williams) is thrilled that the film focuses so much on the women in Williams’ life, because they were much more than their descriptions of “mother” or “wives”:
He was always surrounded by really formidable women. It’s lucky that all of us got to play a different variation of a woman who stands on her own two feet and can stand up to a man who is such an icon like Hank.
