Calling All Creeps! The First Images of Jack Black as R.L. Stine in Goosebumps Are Here

Let the nostalgia commence!

Goosebumps stars Jack Black as as a Young Adult horror author plagued by demons and an evil ventriloquist dummy—which is a fairly tame synopsis, considering the wackiness of the books. Black will appear at SDCC next Thursday to talk about the movie, which he claims is “funny and scary—something that would be great to take my kids to.”

The Columbia Pictures film is slated for release in August of 2015 and is directed by Rob Letterman, who worked with Black on Gulliver’s Travels. I’m deliberately not cultivating high expectations for Goosebumps (Letterman and Black’s previous collaborations don’t bode well), but there’s so much possibility for cheesy fun in this concept. Hopefully soon we’ll have a trailer to wildly speculate over, too.
