Amazon Reviewers Praise the Patriarchy-Busting Power of Wendy Davis’ Filibuster Shoes

[View All on One Page]

Everyone’s still buzzing over Texas State Senator Wendy Davis‘ epic filibuster in defense of a woman’s right to choose. For good reason, too. I hope it proves to be something that people remember—and talk about, and teach their kids about—for decades to come.

That enthusiasm has found a surprising outlet on the Amazon.com page for the bright red running shoes Davis wore while (literally) standing up for women’s rights for a grueling 11 hours. Actually, no, it’s not particularly surprising that people would leave reviews praising Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider 16 Running Shoes for their ability to “outrun [the] patriarchy.” This is the Internet, after all.

But it’s still fun.

not all that surprising an outlet, given how important AP thought the shoes were to the whole story

Awesome! I love the one star review by the guy, great satire :)

  • Rebecca Pahle

But that’s SO important! Because the shoes are PINK! And she’s a WOMAN. So it’s obviously relevant, amirite?

    Jesus H Christ, AP…

If she had been wearing blue shoes, Robert’s Rules of Order say that she would have had to give them up because blue is a boy color.

If she’d been wearing some other color, the space-time continuum would’ve collapsed.

There’s a few funny one star reviews, too, be sure to check those.

Far more than the shoes, I believe Wendy Davis’ success can be attributed to Depends. I’m going to go write a review.
