Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling in Talks for Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time

Recommended Videos

Disney’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s book classic A Wrinkle in Time was off to a great start, with Ava DuVernay as director and Jennifer Lee of Frozen as script writer. Now, we have some exciting news on who we might be seeing in front of the camera.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are in negotiations to play Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who, respectively. The two characters are part of a trio of immortal angelic beings who can travel across time and space. Mrs. Whatsit is described as looking “like a grandmotherly hobo” and Mrs. Who is well-versed in languages and loves quoting literature. Mrs. Which, the third supernatural being, is the wisest and will be played by Oprah Winfrey.

DuVernay said recently that shooting should begin this fall. What do you think about Oprah, Witherspoon, and Kaling in these roles? Personally, while I like both Witherspoon and Kaling, I would prefer to see older actresses in the roles since the Mrs. W character appear as elderly women. Still, their physical forms in the book aren’t static (immortal beings amiright?) so we’ll just have to wait and see!
