Neil Degrasse Tyson Tells Stephen Colbert He’d Rather Demote Earth Than Make Pluto a Planet

Sorry, Pluto Fans

Stephen Colbert brought Neil Degrasse Tyson to talk about our first image of Pluto AKA a “malted milkball left in the rain.”

“It looks like a planet, it’s got atmosphere, it even has a heart–unlike you, who will give it no love,” says Colbert, referring to Tyson’s vocal support towards the demotion of Pluto from a planet to a “dwarf planet.”

“It’s not even on my tie!” Pluto-hater Tyson points out, arguing that it’d insult all the other planets. In fact, Tyson is so against Pluto as a planet, he’d rather Earth and all the rocky planets be demoted to a dwarf-planet.

Sorry, Pluto fans. It looks like Tyson is unmoved.
