New Catching Fire Posters Show Off All Of The Victors!

[View All on One Page]

These posters were released yesterday to a flurry of excitement, and rightfully. This is the first official look at the main characters suited up and ready for action in the newest movie of the Hunger Games trilogy, and the anticipation is finally coming to a head. These actors look amazing in-costume and it’s even more exciting to think that it won’t be long until we’re seeing them on the big screen!

Also, apparently people were disappointed that the actor playing Finnick isn’t attractive enough. Hah. Haha. Sure. Right.

Enobaria is quite frightening! Joanna looks awesome, as does Jeffrey Wright as Beetee.

    Woody Harrelson’s pic is where?

  • Adam R. Charpentier

Did she sharpen her teeth? I don’t remember that at all.

  • http://www.aeryllou.tumblr.com/ Aeryl

    Yes, she did!

He’s not competing in the Quarter Quell.

And, IIRC, I don’t think they are filed, I think they are implants.

I was kinda hoping Finnick would be hotter, but personality goes a long way so we will see how his performance is. Yay Amanda Plummer!

  • TKS

My biggest irk with Finnick, which isn’t THAT big of one, is that Finnick and Katniss look to be the same age. I guess that’s the problem when you have people in their mid twenties playing characters in their mid teens.

  • http://anna.balasi.com/ AnnaB

Agreed. And it’s a little annoying to me that people who will watch the movie and never read the books will shrug all of this off and not care.

I kind of feel that the Finnick’s experience is essential. What he’s gone through completely embodies how the Games is the curse that keeps on cursing. The games are bad enough, but absolutely nobody but the Capitol wins.

  • TKS

I really want to expand here, but I can’t without giving some fairly big book spoilers. So I’ll just say that I agree with everything you said here.

I haven’t read the books but if Amanda Plummer isn’t the winner at the end…then I call shenanigans.

  • Katy

I totally agree! Without giving away spoilers, based on what happens to Finnick and why that happens to Finnick, I always pictured him as someone who looks older than his actual age. Sam Claflin is only three (maybe four?) years older than Jennifer Lawrence, but he actually looks younger than her. Not that Lawrence looks older than her age, but she projects maturity while playing Katniss. I guess maybe they were looking for boyish charm when hiring to play Finnick? However, I’ve seen a few shows that Claflin has been in and I’ve always been impressed, so I don’ think I’ll be disappointed. I just wish they had made his hair darker. I always pictured dark auburn hair that had bleached to a coppery hue. Not reddish hair that had bleached blond.

While he looks NOTHING like Finnick’s described, I always really liked Jesse Williams as Finnick. He’s got that devilish smile, the endless charm, but can do wounded real well.

Claflin looks like he’s got the wounded part down, but the rest, not so much.

  • Adam R. Charpentier

Haha, I hope they’re not filed. There’s a limit to how much you should commit to a role.

  • LifeLessons

    Wow.

  • Bunny Byul

Jeffrey Wright looks EXACTLY how I pictured BeeTee when I was reading the book. So excited!

  • http://www.aeryllou.tumblr.com/ Aeryl

    Cute. :^D

  • HamsterMasterSamster

I was hoping for him to be a bit bronzer and . . . redheadier? xD But you’re right – with this kind of character, a lot of the charm is not in the looks but the overall charisma. I hope he can pull it off ’cause Finnick’s my favourite character from the series (and also hope that they don’t kiddify a lot of the darker elements of his story, and everyone else’s, that come into play in Mockingbird).

  • Anonymous

Absolutely, I cant wait to see his character develop, including the events of the third book but Im probably going to be in tears by then! I hope they dont minimize the tragedy by glossing over it.

  • Anonymous

This. His poster was the most disappointing to me.

I think superhero designers should take note of these costumes, particularly the women. The costumes looks great and the women still clearly look feminine, but it isn’t emphasized by the costumes.

  • Joanna

I’m so annoyed with Finnick’s casting. However, Mags and Johanna are perfect.

I’ll actually be interested to see if the film outdoes the book. I liked both book and film of The Hunger Games. The latter was a dead straight adaptation of the former, but that was fine because the book was already written like a screenplay, with a narrative just made for film (hence it having been the backbone of films like ‘Running Man’ and ‘Battle Royale’ before, of course)

I thought the book of Catching Fire was a bit of a mess structurally and without the driving impetus from minute 1 that THG had, the book only really came into focus in the final third. It’ll take more of a clever adaptation job to make CF are really good film, and I’d love to see that happen!

  • keewa

Mags looks a lot taller than I was imagining when reading it. I pictured a really short tiny old lady.
She looks badass here, I think maybe I prefer this one!

  • not-so-small-mercies

Jesse Williams was actually pretty close to my mental picture of Finnick while reading the book, actually.
