Seth Rogen Repeatedly Schooling Ted Cruz on Twitter Is Proof We Don’t Have Time for Fascists

If that wasn't clear before.

Watching Seth Rogen absolutely school Ted Cruz has become one of my favorite parts of the day. Before, I was absolutely here for Rogen’s pottery making. That stuff is top notch and speaks of a man who has honed his craft to perfection. Now I’m here for a combination of fine pottery and sick burns that show the world that just because wannabe dictator Donald Trump is out doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten the other fascists who enabled him.

Don’t think Ted Cruz is a fascist? Let’s break down what the word means. According to Merriam-Webster, fascism is defined as: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

That, right there, sounds exactly like Ted Cruz and every sycophant who followed failed dictator Donald J. Trump. Time and time again, Trump painted himself as the messiah of the Republican party and our country, and its only savior. He had rally after rally for his followers that made you wonder if you were in the United States of America or in a dictatorship fashioned as a movement for the people. And he told white terrorists who stormed the U.S. Capitol building to subvert the democratic process that they were loved.

That’s not normal. At all. And we shouldn’t forget that. In fact, we should be calling it out like Seth Rogen has been. Yes, unity is important, and that’s how we move forward as a nation. You know what’s also important for moving on from Donald J. Trump and his reign of terror? Holding those responsible accountable for their actions and letting the world know that fascism isn’t welcome in the United States of America. That’s what we need to unite around.

That’s what I see Seth Rogen pushing for every single time he replies to Ted Cruz and his ridiculous theories or arguments.

This is Seth Rogen reminding Ted Cruz that he has blood on his hands for supporting white supremacy, that his lies will no longer be accepted in this house, and that he will be held accountable for the years he spent supporting the destruction of our democracy. It’s also a reminder to people like you and I that we have the power to speak up and speak loud. And I’m not just talking about Twitter. Use it; it’s powerful. But remember that there are other ways to battle fascists like Ted Cruz.

Use this time to educate yourself. Go out there and read up on fascism, dictators, and learn about how history has played out as a means of avoiding its worst atrocities. Go out there and connect with different voices and organizations as a means of broadening your horizons. And if you’re really brave or want to make change happen, go out there and run for office. We need more people in the government that will root out fascists like Ted Cruz. And if Seth Rogen can use his voice for good on such a public platform, imagine what you can do from a political one?
