Woman goes for a tan at Planet Fitness. She looks up—and sees something shocking: ‘Absolutely report it to the police’
A woman has gone viral after allegedly making a disturbing discovery while going for a tan at Planet Fitness. And rest assured—viewers were horrified.
The viral video, which has amassed 1.2 million views, was filmed inside what appears to be a Planet Fitness. The camera then zooms into a ceiling tile, which appears to be being moved by something. Accompanying the video is the viral “Oh my God, what is that?” TikTok sound. On-screen text reads: “Not me tryna tan at Planet Fitness in my bra and undies and see this happening.”
We reached out to the creator via TikTok comment and message.
Planet Fitness didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via email.
What did commenters think?
Multiple commenters advised the TikToker to call the police. “When you notice cameras or something suspicious like this, don’t ever say anything to the people working in the building,” one advised. “Immediately leave and call 911 and report it.”
Another seconded this, telling the user: “I worked there, absolutely report it to the police NOT MANAGEMENT.”
Meanwhile, a third advised the TikToker to “lawyer up.”
However, other commenters noted that there might be a plausible explanation for this.
“The ceiling tile is improperly secured and now the fan on the tanning bed is pushing it up because those are so light,” a fourth noted. “You see how there’s a little lip there in the framing? They’re supposed to wedge in and maintenance didn’t do that.”
A fifth added, “This is a extreme amount of positive pressure which means one or multiple of the exhaust fans are broken, that tiles loose so it’s becoming the sacrificial louvre to adjust air flow in the room, the pressure is to high, when you open the front door you’ll notice it’s not gonna wanna close.”
And a sixth pointed out: “Return vent right there, some kind of air causing the drop ceiling to move. Not a reason to stop being cautious you never know fr.”

Planet Fitness peeper charged in Augusta
Nevertheless, if there’s actually a Peeping Tom in the Planet Fitness ceiling, it wouldn’t be the first time.
In 2025, an Augusta man was charged with this crime and held without bond. According to the Augusta Press, a 48-year-old woman was undressing and preparing to lie in the tanning bed when she noticed a man watching her from the ceiling.
Then, the man allegedly jumped down from the ceiling into the neighboring tanning room. In this room, an officer noted that a ceiling tile was removed. While, in the other room, the ceiling tile was moved slightly.
A LinkedIn profile suggests that the suspect, Alton Sapp, used to be an Assistant Manager at Planet Fitness — however, the company didn’t verify this when approached by the Augusta Press.
