Now that MGM has sorted itself out, fans have been waiting eagerly for an announcement about the future of MGM’s biggest licenses, including James Bond, which it is currently the studio home of. Well, the news is in, and thanks to a little help, MGM is going ahead with not just the third movie of Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007, but also a fourth.

According to the Coventry Telegraph,

An official announcement reveals that not just one but TWO new Bond films are on the way, thanks to a new distribution and financing pact between MGM and Sony Pictures Entertainment… Under the new deal, Sony will co-finance, market and distribute the next 007 adventure worldwide.

The release date for Bond 23, as it is still known, is November 9th, 2012 (so, inching it in before the Mayan apocalypse), adding one more entry to the already long, long list of movies I’ll have to go see in 2012.
