John Boyega has a perfect dream role for the MCU

Kevin Feige reportedly asked John Boyega who he wants to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the time, the Marvel actor didn’t know. Now he has his answer and it is kind of iconic.

Boyega was talking with interviewer Josh Horowitz when Boyega revealed that Feige had asked him previously who he wanted to play in the MCU. While, at the time, Boyega did not have an answer, he shared that he now knows who he wants to play: Bishop in the X-Men.

Lucas Bishop is a mutant who can use energy absorption to his advantage. He’s also a central part of X-Men: The Animated Series and subsequently X-Men ’97. Famously, the character takes Nicholas Summers (aka Cable) to the future. Basically, Bishop rules. If part of your drawing inspiration was Prince, you’re destined to be cool.

Boyega shared the inspiration and honestly? I’m into the idea!

As of right now, we don’t know what the future holds for the X-Men. We know that Avengers: Doomsday will feature some of the previous mutants we know and love. Mystique, Nightcrawler, Professor Xavier, Magneto, and Beast (just to name a few) will be included in the Marvel film but it brings up a question about the future of the X-Men and what the casting is going to look like. Especially since Omar Sy did play Bishop in Days of Future Past.

With Boyega’s choice now being known, one thing is clear: The man has taste!

Bishop is the best!

You cannot really go wrong with any member of the X-Men team. Every character is great and beloved for a reason. Bishop is one of the biggest support systems on the team and a character who just really shines with his ability to be there for his teammates while also fighting for mutants everywhere.

So looking at the grand canon of Marvel heroes, a character like Bishop allows for a more layered performance. He knows how to do the right thing but he isn’t afraid of voicing his opinion on mutant matters and I think that the idea of having Boyega as Bishop is great! Let’s make it happen, Feige! Boyega wants it and now I really want to see my guy Bishop in the live-action world!
