AMC Unleashes Zombies On New York City To Make A Point About DISH Network

If you watch AMC, you may have noticed a few references to the DISH Network recently during your favorite shows. That’s because they dropped AMC, WEtv, IFC and Sundance Channel from their service and a lot of people aren’t happy about it. So AMC did the only logical thing – they unleashed a horde of zombies on New York City. Thank god I wasn’t out on the streets that day. I might have gone all Michonne.     I am glad I missed that, too.  I am the type of person who will not take ANY chances with zombies.  I will not assume that a horde of the undead on the streets of NYC is some whimsical flash mob.  I will find a blunt object and start busting heads.

    Maybe it’s just me, but there wasn’t really any more information about the zombie NY project in the link. Even clicking through several pages, all I could find was the same video posted here, with no additional text.
    I can’t watch the video right now, wish there was more text somewhere explaining it. :(

    The video doesn’t have any sort of hidden meaning. The Walking Dead is hugely popular so they figured if they made a neat zombie video, then people would listen to what they had to say about DISH. It seems to be working.
    “The simple truth is that DISH is using their consumers as pawns to attempt to gain leverage in a lawsuit involving an old and unrelated business venture that has nothing to do with AMC, nothing to do with our shows or fees, and certainly nothing to do with DISH subscribers, who just want to watch the shows they love and are paying DISH for. You will not see any AMC Networks’ shows on DISH any time soon.”

    I would be curious to find out what exactly the dispute is.

    I work in New York City, am currently pregnant, and have a secret fear of zombies. I don’t think it would’ve been good for me to see a zombie, even a fake one, rambling in the streets of NY towwards me. Still, this was a cool promotion.
