This Hero Switched the Theme Music for Cowboy Bebop and The Venture Bros. [Video]

YouTube user Faketrout had the brilliant idea to see what would happen if the theme music for two of Adult Swim‘s best shows ever, Cowboy Bebop and The Venture Bros., were switched. Well, as you can imagine, it’s pretty amazing. And in case you were curious, Cowboy Bebop‘s theme music is “Tank!” and was written by Yoko Kanno and performed by The Seatbelts, and the theme for The Venture Bros. is “Tuff,” composed by J. G. Thirlwell.

    It’s okay. What it really does, however, is show how amazing Yoko Kano is that her music can jazz up (no pun intended) almost anything, and also shows how integral her music is to the feel of the Cowboy Beebop anime. They’re practically designed hand in hand.

    I understand the idea; the title sequences are similar in style, and the music doe the same thing for its own sequence. Unfortunately, that is accomplished by timing, which doesn’t translate.

    Still, love both songs, love both shows.

    I actually felt that the VB theme worked better with CB than vise versa, if only because what was happening on screen matched up with the music better on that end. Both work great, though, in my opinion.

    I think we all just need to agree that Tank! is the best theme song ever. I would be okay if I lived in a universe where every show began with Tank! It would probably even get me to watch 7th Heaven.
