How did we ever get off Trenzalore, anyway? In the anniversary special we’re suddenly out of Trenzalore and Clara has been working as a teacher for a while, but when did that happen? I’m not sure if I’m just missing something here. In “Name of the Doctor” we ended right when John Hurt appeared, didn’t we? Argh, Moffat. MY BRAIN.

…what do they mean ONLY ON BBC AMERICA? Surprising absolutely no one, I’m fairly sure us British get it too.

Who cares about 11 or Clara? The real question is: does Madame Vastra and the Paternoster Gang return?

  • Christopher LaHaise

I met the actress who plays Madam Vastra at Pop Expo here in Ottawa just this week. She’s a wonderful, funny, intelligent woman. :)

  • Gregory McIntyre

I think the trouble was more finding her than leaving, he’s literally in his own timeline no reason he can’t hop back out right after he entered. Also the 50th seemed to be framed such that it could be viewed on it’s own without lead in from other episodes.

Does Mark Sheppard do the voice over’s for BBCA? It sure sounds a lot like him.

    YEAH, RIGHT, WHAT x1000

that was posted to youtube by bbc america intended for bbc america viewers, ensuring them that it cant be found on nick jr, i suspect.

He does. He’s on everything. He showed up on Suits.
He’s the Jude Law of 2013.

Well, Eleven tells ten that he’s eventually heading to Trenzalore, which suggests that this takes place after Name.
The climax of Name was The Doctor saving Clara after she retroactively defeated the Great Intelligence. There’s not really any need to show the denouement – they exit the rip in time, The Paternoster gang is restored to as they were, possibly with no clue anything had happened. The big ending to the episode was introducing John Hurt, and that had to be the ending, whether you call it a cliffhanger or not. The mopping up could be taken as read.

Man I have so many questions as well. Esp too many questions surrounding Clara lately. She could be an interesting character but I just cannot get into the way she is being written lately. Despite how much work the actress is putting in to make her more 3 dimensional.

Does she not remember living dozens of lives and dying dozens of times with all these previous versions of the Doctor? Wouldn’t this effect somebody? Is this Clara with 11 even the original Clara since Madame Vastra said something about how if she jumped in all the Claras would just be copies and she’d be erased? Why aren’t we shown how this effected her (& the Doctor really)? I want more exploring these characters and less Big Giant Epic Plot Twist-y Things that Moffat seems to be fond of!

Maybe it’s another unresolved thing, like the Silence, the astronaut, etc., that’ll get resolved in the special?

  • Ms Polythene Pam

Does this not just feel like a recycled Pandorica? Like I’m bored already and it’s not even Christmas.

  • Ashley James

still overwhelmed by 50th anniversary episode. Cant wait for the Christmas special. All hail the 12th doctor. In the mean time enjoy this

  • Miss Cephalopod

Ugh, the Silence. Maybe I’m being too rash and Moffat has a secret master plan with it that’ll stun me into silence (pun actually not intended, can you believe it?) but I’m getting incredibly bored with the Silence because we’ve been given tons of explanations what it is , and it’s always something different. It’s the end of the universe! It’s those creatures you forget when you turn away! It’s a religious cult! It’s the death of the Doctor! No, it’s Superman!

There are many nits I have to pick with Moffat but one of the most frustrating is these huge plot holes.

I also want to know if we’ll ever know WHY the people that kidnapped Amy hate the Doctor so much. Are we ever given a reason? Or when/how/where Amy was kidnapped? Maybe I missed the explanation or sth.

I agree, that’s been one of the weaknesses of the Matt Smith era.

It seems like just yesterday, we were seeing Matt Smith take his very first golden glowy dust breath of the Doctor. I cannot believe we are going to see his last this christmas…OH OY GERD
