Meet Thunder and Lightning: DC Nations’ Newest Sister Superheroes! [VIDEO]

I can understand if some of you aren’t familiar with Thunder and Lightning, the superhero daughters of DC Comics’ Black Lightning. They aren’t the most well-known superheroes and they don’t exist (so far) in the New 52 but they are pretty swell gals. Here’s a clip from an upcoming short on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block with the two acting like sisters do. Interesting tidbit Sue from DC Women Kicking Ass pointed out: this clip includes mention of Grace Choi. Grace was a member of The Outsiders as well as Thunder’s girlfriend in the comics. If you stop the video on Thunder’s cell phone (or click over to see a screenshot at DCWKA) you’ll see the two are at least friends in this animated universe.

    I didn’t know those two but I remembered another Lightning & Thunder duo (thanks to the Teen Titans cartoon). One wikipedia check later, I have the confirmation that in some situations, DC authors seems to run out of original names for their characters. Still, this series looks funny…. and… kind of Boondocks-y too (Rebecca-neologisms FTW).

    I’m so happy they were able to slip in a nod to her relationship with grace. So not just a short about two WOC of superheroes…but one of them is queer as well? I wish this could be an actual show…
    Or like a Super BFFs, Amethyst, Thunder and Lightning series.

    Wait, I thought Thunder and Lightening were the Thai siamese twin sons of an alien and a human. They used to fight the Teen Titans. As a matter of fact I thought they were in the cartoon.

    They keep making these, but they never take the hints. I guess when the Diamond syndicate runs your marketing firm, it’s kind of hard to get real information out of them.
