Things We Saw Today: Hodor on the Iron Throne

Kristian Nairn, who plays the role of Walder, more commonly known as Hodor because it is the only thing he seems capable of saying, in Game of Thrones tweeted this picture this morning, an image to set the other players in the Game of Thrones trembling in their boots. (Twitter)

  • Speaking of Game of Thrones, Helmut Lang says it inspired his fall collection, and it’s easy to see how. (Styleite)

This Batman armor looks a lot like Sauron, and we don’t know if that make it more or less impressive. (DeviantArt)

  • Guyspeed.com has a list of 25 pick up lines to use on Doctor Who fans (they specify girls, but we don’t see any reason to: boys like Doctor Who, too, gosh), and they’re pretty funny. We’d just like to remind all would be pickuppers to make sure that you are in a socially designated Pick Up Type Interaction before pulling one of these funny lines out. Don’t just scream “PROCREATE, PROCREATE!” at some cosplayer in the exhibition hall, no matter how fetching a dalek costume they’re wearing.

But lets go back to baking. Perfect for making some Borg cupcakes. (Geeks are Sexy)

  • Comics Alliance profiles Erica Moen, whose comics we love. You should check it out.

And speaking of ladies doing comics we like on the internet, Faith Eric Hicks wrote this humorous and only mostly accurate summary of A Wrinkle in Time. Read the rest of it here. (Tor.com)

I loved both Cracked articles, and seeing people’s vehement responses is one of the things about comics that makes so little sense to me.  We all love them, so we talk about them, but as soon as you have any ideas that might address diversity in any way, be it women or minorities, you’re shouted down in such a racist/sexist way that you can’t believe these people like the same thing you do.  Superheroes are all about doing what’s right even when it’s unbelievably difficult, and yet that same idealism does not seem to have seeped into the brains of this very loud portion of fandom.  Apparently I’m either a Feminazi or trying to get laid for thinking that though.
