Things We Saw Today: Aaron Diaz Reboots Batman

It might seem a bit overkill to post all of Aaron Diaz‘s DC redesigns… but he did one of Batman. We cannot resist. (via Indistinguishable From Magic)

This is what a policewoman in Afghanistan carries in her purse: scissors, knives, nail clippers, and salt. Click to embiggen and see the details. (via Foreign Policy)

  • In related law enforcement news, Topeka, Kansas has decided to stop enforcing its local domestic violence laws in an effort to cut costs. Kansas state laws have not changed, but 18 abusers have already been arrested on domestic violence charges and released (one of them twice) because Topeka agencies are “not accepting new cases.” The decision was passed by the city council by a vote of 7 to 3. Because apparently, there was absolutely nothing else they could have cut that would have kept the beating of one’s significant other senseless a crime. Seriously, what’s the matter with Kansas? This. This is seriously wrong with Kansas.
  • Blastr has scoured Etsy for a slew of horror-themed products, like this wicked, scary stitch necklace. For your neck. Like you had to re-attach your head to your neck. We are in love.

  • Officially official: We can breathe now, because Disney‘s Lone Ranger movie — which may or may not have werewolves in it — is officially back on. (via Screen Rant)
  • Oprah Winfrey‘s O Magazine is celebrating a first with a sobering image — its first nude photo — featuring Katie Halchishick, co-founder of Healthy is the New Skinny and the Perfectly Unperfected Program, shot by Matthew Rolston — shows us what exactly plastic surgeons and photo editors would change about this already beautiful body. The time’s getting on after midnight, my love,

So go the f*ck to sleep.

  • And, in closing, a Texas woman commissioned a Harry Potter-themed burrow (like the Weasleys’) to be built in her backyard. For her cat. Below is a screencap from the unembeddable video, which can be viewed at io9, because this story made the news.

“This is seriously wrong with Kansas.”
That is fucked. Dorothy might have been safer if she stayed in OZ.

Those outlines make Katie Halchishick look kinda like a space alien.

“a documentary about Steve Jobs for their home channel.”How ya gonna work an explosion into this one, guys?

Oh, no, nothing wrong with Kansas…I just don’t like states that are run by little green worms!

It’s not what surgeons/editors would do to her, it’s how she’d have to be reshaped to fit Barbie’s proportions. Hence the Barbie.

1.) His Batman is really cool. Just like everything else he does.
2.) That picture from O magazine is wonderful. Hopefully it will have some sort of impact.
3.) As far as Kansas…well that’s just fucked. I mean if you want to save some fucking money in the police budget why not take it easy on small amounts of drugs or marijuana in general, rather then ignoring violent crimes. I mean this is pathetic and disturbing. This will not end well. Trying to see a silver lining in this maybe it will shine a light on how serious a problem this still is…one can hope anyway.
