Things We Saw Today: A Discworld Cake, Complete With Giant Turtle

Note: not a full-size replica.

I can’t say that I’ve ever wondered what the Great A’Tuin tastes like, but apparently it’s filled with chocolate mint grasshopper cake. (by Art2Eat Cakes, via That’s Nerdalicious!)

  • Stephanie Kwolek, the inventor of Kevlar, passed away last Wednesday. She was 90 years old. (via Geeks Are Sexy)
  • A World of Warcraft player named Doubleagent has managed to hit level 90 without choosing a faction. How, you ask? He never left the Pandaren starting zone. (via The Escapist)

mario prints

These stylish Super Mario prints are the work of artist Christopher Lee (no, not the actor). You can pick up a pack of your very own at his store. (via Joystiq)

  • There’s a new play about Aphra Behn, 17th-century playwright, poet, novelist, and British spy. The play is called Empress of the Moon: The Lives of Aphra Behn, and it sounds right up our alley. For those who live near Washington DC, you can check it out at the Capital Fringe Festival, starting July 10. (via Braak)
  • That’s a wrap: The Hunger Games trilogy has now officially finished filming. (via Oh No They Didn’t!)

We’re weirdly okay with this. Artwork by Mureh.
