Things We Saw Today: The Doctor Who Cast Being Silly At Comic-Con

The cast of BBC’s Doctor Who may be (almost) out by they’re not down. Except perhaps Arthur Darvill who may be about to take a tumble in this photo. Darvill, along with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are making the press rounds at Comic-Con right now for what will likely be their last SDCC together. *sniffle* (via BBC America Tumblr

  • Speaking of Doctor Who, fans recently voted on the saddest companion goodbye. They alligned with my choice – it was the Doctor/Rose goodbye at the end of “Doomsday.” (via BBC DW blog)
  • The Frisky has a great photo gallery of a bunch of our favorite stars at SDCC.
  • Warner Bros. has announced the Justice League will be making an appearance in the next installment of the Batman Arkham video game franchise. This should be interesting. (via Blastr)

  • Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington (Jon Snow) recently broke his ankle. But don’t worry, a spokesperson for HBO said it would not affect filming on the series. Though it did mean he had to pass on SDCC. (via Digital Spy)

  • Want to go to the big Comic-Con next year? Start saving now. A hotel room at the Manchester Grand Hyatt (attached to the con center) usually goes for about $111 a night but over $500 a night once SDCC comes. It’s not the same prices at all hotels of course but you can expect that rate hike from all of them. I stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt one year…with 8 people in the room. (via The Beat)

My friends and I rented an apartment for a week for last year’s Comic-Con. Fantastic idea. We all got our own beds, we had a kitchen/living room if we needed to stretch out, and it was the same relative price as one of the hotel rooms. Transport wasn’t even a problem either, thanks to the buses.

So that answers my question of who would be in the middle of a Doctor Who sandwich.

    Nooope, saddest was Donna.

Oh yes, the ol’ sharing a hotel room with way too many people for a con, that sounds familiar.

Yeah, but the parting with Donna wasn’t as protracted and played on as the one with Rose, making the latter more memorable for many.

The Donna goodbye makes me cry every time. The Rose goodbye makes me cheer everytime. I despise Rose with a passion.

Still sadder, though – knowing how much Donna would hate going back to “normal”, grounding her when all she wanted to do was explore forever, and taking away the memory of all she had seen and done. Awful. My husband and I both bawled like babies during that one. Rose was sad too, but it was love story sad and kinda expected.

I think there’s a mistake in your last item? The Manchester Grand Hyatt, while certainly quite close to the con center, is not attached to it. I stayed at the Hyatt in 2008, and both the Marriott Marquis & Marina and Hilton Bayfront are closer to the convention center.
