Okay, sorry, maybe I was a little defensive about the speed dating because I’ve seen it work out so well. I still have no idea what could be considered depressing about it, or what you see of false hope in there. It’s a guy who’s clearly enjoying himself considering a fun and casual social activity. Also, he is dressed as The Flash, a character known for his “speed”, thus adding a layer of humorous literality.

Uh, projection much? I didn’t say I didn’t approve. I said that I found speed dating sad. Not “sad” as in “pathetic”, “sad” as in the literal definition of the word, “depressing”. It wasn’t “sad” as a put down.

And frankly, where did you get that I was “giving” (or witholding) my approval? You asked why the picture made me sad, and I told you it’s because my impression of speed dating is a sad one, and that therefore, everything about the picture made it appear melancholy, because I therefore interpreted the picture to be one suggesting false hope. I wasn’t making any judgement about anyone. It was a statement entirely about my own impressions and my own feelings. Go to hell.

My brother met his fiancee at a speed dating event. I’m sorry you get so sad that people meet each other in non-Ruminum-approved manners. I mean, geez, he’s only gone to a place full of people who share his interests and is considering an opportunity to share some fun, low-pressure social time with them. How pathetic.

I think that’s the bride’s bouquet peeking over the groom’s shoulder, not Spidey. Thought it would’ve been funny to have loads of wee hidden Spider-Men (I originally typed “Spider-Mans” because that sounded more correct in my head!)

Well, first of all, i find Speed Dating in general to be sad, plus I got an impression that the guy looking at the booth may actually be considering it, which makes it sadder, and if he’s considering it, then he might be hopeful about it, which is sadder still. It’s mostly based out of my own impression of speed dating.
