Tara Strong to Reprise Batgirl Role for Beware the Batman

Tara Strong, voice of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in The New Batman Adventures (a.k.a., Batman: The Animated Series after the art revamp), Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Super Best Friends Forever and a number of video games, announced today that she’ll also be voicing Barbara Gordon in Batman’s newest small screen incarnation, Beware the Batman. I didn’t even realize that Barbara was in it (although it was apparently mentioned at last year’s Comic Con)! Her debut episode airs this weekend.

The animation on this looks so shite. I hope the stories are great to make up for it.

And with this news I’ll give the show a second chance. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be, I’m just still a bit burned because the Green Lantern show was cancelled for Batman.

It wasn’t cancelled for Batman. It got cancelled because it didn’t have a toyline. http://www.blogofoa.com/2013/03/bruce-timm-confirms-that-toy-sales-led.html

To clarify, she’s only voicing Barbara, NOT Batgirl.

I knew that – it was the same thing for Young Justice. Nonetheless I felt burned losing those shows – so I was planning to stop watching anything on Cartoon Network – but I kinda like Beware of the Batman and I love Tara Strong!

Where’s that info from? She said Batgirl.

I was at the SDCC DC Nation panel last summer and the creators said that she wasn’t gonna be Batgirl, at least not right away. But that was then, things could have changed.

If Batgirl has bigger lips than Batman in the show I am going to have to go on strike. Whoever green-lit that Batman design seems to have been hoping to sell Bat-lipstick. They are distracting.

I am looking forward to a familiar voice. Sorry Yvonne Craig, when I think of Batgirl I hear Tara Strong’s voice.

Why would you stop watching Cartoon Network? You’re not their target demographic, so you’d only be depriving yourself of fun. It wouldn’t impact them at all. Besides, what are they supposed to do? Keep airing shows that lose money? It’s a business, not a charity.

Not watching CN wasn’t about depriving them of anything. It’s just that my fun keeps getting taking away from me and what’s the point of investing myself in a show that’s gonna get cancelled?

I’m kinda liking Beware of The Batman – it wouldn’t shock me if it gets cancelled soon.

The producers keep referring to her as Barbara instead of Batgirl in some interviews. Not to mention that the show takes place very early in Batman’s career. James Gordon is just a lieutenant and Batman is opposed by the police. WAY too soon for Batgirl.

I thought I remember reading neither of the Robins or Batgirls were going to be on this show along with none of the classic Bat Rogues. Guess I misread. That’s pretty cool. I like Batgirl.
