  1. HEY, LISTEN: It’s the Honest Trailer For The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

HEY, LISTEN. HEY, LISTEN. HEY, LISTEN. HEY, LISTEN.

One of the best games for N64 (and arguably of all time), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time still isn't without its flaws. You know what I'm talking about: Navi. But the Honest Trailer pokes some good fun at the rest of the Zelda franchise, too, and it's all in the spirit of laughs. I liked Mario 64 better, anyways.

  2. Zelda Opens a Bottle of Whoop-Ass in Hyrule Warriors as the Game Adds Even More Women

Your princess is not in another castle.

We may have been disappointed that speculation about a female protagonist/playable character in the next main-series Zelda game turned out to be wrong, but Hyrule Warriors is really picking up the slack in that department with more women than you can shake a deku stick at. The latest Japanese character trailer for the game once again begs the question, "Does she just let Link save her to give his self-esteem a boost?"

  4. Zelda’s Temple of Time Remade in Unreal Engine 4 Makes Us Hope for HD Zelda at E3

Somebody help. What are the notes to the Prelude of Light again? I need to get to this temple.

The bar has been set, Nintendo. I'll be surprised if we don't get a look at the next Zelda game at E3 this year, and one fan's recreation of the Temple of Time in the Unreal 4 engine has me foaming at the mouth for HD Zelda. Congratulations, Temple of Time. You've done your job. I feel like a kid again.

  5. Link Opens the Same Chest and Door Until He Collapses From Exhaustion in Nintendo – A Sad Story’s Dark Metaphor

It's dangerous to go alone... because Iwata will get you.

I haven't been shy with my opinions on Nintendo's penchant for milking its franchises for all they're worth, but this creepy take on Link's journeys makes my complaints look downright pleasant. Watch as Link acts out a dark metaphor about his rehashed adventures until he collapses from exhaustion... and still has to keep going.

  8. A Cosplayer Battled a Real Intruder Legend of Zelda-Style Complete With Master Sword and Smashing Pots

The guy's just lucky he didn't have the silver arrows to finish him off.

Eugene Thompson, AKA Link, had to fend off a home intruder, so he did what anybody would do to vanquish evil and grabbed his trusty Master Sword. Luckily for Thompson, he takes his cosplay very seriously, and the sword was sharp enough to save the princess and restore balance to Hyrule. ...or just fend off a crazy person.

  12. Nintendo Announces New Zelda Games for Wii U, Finally Makes Wii U Appealing

We've been accused of being too hard on Nintendo since the Wii U launched last year, but I think it's just a case of tough love. That's why I was so glad to see them doing something we can all get really excited about -- new Zelda games! In a Nintendo Direct video released today, Nintendo president Satoru Iawata outlined some big things coming for the Wii U like new games, software updates, and most importantly -- new Zelda!

  13. Nintendo Force Magazine Launching Despite Failure of Nintendo Power

This month saw the end of Nintendo Power, a print magazine that covered the gaming company's news and goings-on since 1988. Frankly, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, but the death of Nintendo Power isn't going to stop Lucas M. Thomas. He and his team are launching Nintendo Force Magazine in January 2013 to pick up where Nintendo Power left off, and to hopefully not end up with the same fate.

  14. Dad Reprograms a Zelda Game to Make “FemLink” a Female Role-Model for His Daughter

Parents will do anything for their children. Case in point: When father/gamer Mike Hoye plays The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker with his daughter, he reads her the story. When he does, he changes all the pronouns so that Link is actually a little girl, and Zelda is her little brother. Why does he do it? In a world where most of gaming classic heroes are men trying to a damsel in distress, Mr. Hoye wants his daughter to grow up thinking that girls can be just as heroic as boys. After doing this for some time, Hoye got fed up with having to do all the work in his head, so he took the time to reprogram the game with his own gender-swapped version of the script.

  15. Western Meets Zelda: Fistful of Rupees Looks Awesome

If there's something out there that could make a Western just that much better, it's obviously The Legend of Zelda. That's exactly what The Game Station thought, it seems, when they decided to make Fistful of Rupees. To be honest, we had our reservations, but after watching the video it became clear that this is precisely the kind of remix that needs to be done. Tropes from both sides have come together to provide a refreshing take on their respective genres. Plus, it stars Lisa Foiles as Zelda and apparently features lonesome ocarina solos. The three-part series debuts on August 7th. Time to start waiting impatiently!

  16. Someone Has Built an Exact 1:1 Reconstruction of Ocarina of Time in Minecraft

Creating obsessively elaborate models of things is a major draw of Minecraft. With that in mind, it's not surprising that a mod group is working towards completing an entire reconstruction of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the popular mining and crafting game. The project, aptly called Hyrulecraft, has just completed the entire above-ground portion of the game and is now open for testing. And that's only the beginning for this ambitious project.

  17. Time to Dust off the Wii, Here Comes Zelda

There is really nothing to argue about here. Even if you are the most devoted of Nintendo fans, someone that purchases every major release they come out with, you have to admit that 2011 has been a rather dry spell for an already mixed history of software releases on the Nintendo Wii. The impending release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might be hailed by some as a reason to pardon Nintendo’s lack of titles but, it doesn’t change facts.

  18. Chart Traces Biological Roots Of Species in the Zelda Series

Jude Buffum, apparently a big Zelda fan, put together this chart tracing the evolutionary roots of 200 of the most prominent species in the Zelda franchise. Entitled, "Magna Arbor Vitae Deku," it not only traces each species back to the Deku tree, but also lists their corresponding binomial Latin names at the bottom. I don't know what might inspire you to make something like this, or if it could possibly serve any sort of useful purpose, but man does it ever look cool. Zelda fans are intense. Larger version after the jump.
