  1. Gordon’s Alive! Matthew Vaughn in Talks to Direct Flash Gordon Movie

We're as surprised as Prince Vultan.

  2. X-Men’s Jane Goldman Joining Fables Film Writing Team, Updates on Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts

Also, the Fables movie is still a thing that is happening.

David Heyman's Paddington is making haymen at the box office, and so he's doing the usual press thing, which means he's being asked about his other projects, i.e., two geek properties that have women writing their screenplays, so, up our alley.

  3. Apparently Sirs Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Won’t Have Roles in X-Men: Apocalypse

While I was on an insane high from hearing Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan might play young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, I have found a new low in hearing we likely won't be seeing Sir Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen at all.

  4. X-Men: Days of Future Past – I’m Not Sure I Want Your Future

    Review

The follow-up to Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class had a lot weighing on its shoulders. Not just as a Hollywood blockbuster, but with fans of the Chris Claremont storyline from The Uncanny X-Men comics and subsequent animated television series adaptation. It also had to live up to the "new" mutant universe created for the 60s-era film while paving the way for continuing success with subsequent films in the Fox franchise. While Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past may have great success at the box office (like most superhero films these days), fans may have a few things to say to the director when all is said and done.

  5. James McAvoy Compares The Scale Of X-Men: Days of Future Past To Avatar

    Just Go With It

We knew they were going big with X-Men: Days of Future Past just by the sheer size of the cast but actor James McAvoy has put it into perspective for us.

    My Spidey Sense Is Tingling

I was holding out hope Peter Dinklage would be cast as Doctor Psycho in a Wonder Woman film but I guess an X-Men role will have to do...

  9. The Best X-Men News Since Yesterday: Hugh Jackman in Talks for Days of Future Past

    Good News Everyone!

Yesterday brought us the official news that the older versions of everybody's favorite mutant parenting couple odd couple were up for Days of Future Past, the sequel to X-Men: First Class. That is, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have both signed to the production. Today brings us news that another X-Men standby won't just walk away with the movie's only F-bomb and the summer's best cameo in one sitting. This time he might be around a bit longer.

  10. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen Officially Join the Sequel to X-Men: First Class

    Excelsior!

There's only one thing that can make me feel bad about Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart sharing a screen again, and that is that X-Men III is officially still canon. From the mouth of Bryan Singer himself:

  12. Mark Millar Kinda Sorta Says Sentinels Will Be In X-Men: Days Of Future Past [Please Be True]

    My Spidey Sense Is Tingling

One of my biggest disappointment with the X-Men movie franchise so far has been the lack of Sentinels, the mutant-hunting robots from the Marvel Universe. Sure, we got a quick shot of a Sentinel in X-Men: The Last Stand's danger room sequence but it was merely a taste. Now there's talk of the giants playing a big part in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Is it too good to be true? See for yourself.

    Power Grid

Sometimes good guys are actually "good" guys. They treat people well, they help old ladies across the street, their good intentions are matched by their positive (not necessarily chipper or anything, but at least nice) personality. And sometimes good guys are just jerks.

  14. Patrick Stewart Confirms Return To X-Men Film Franchise As Professor Xavier

And All Was Right With the World

Back in July, we learned the name of the next X-Men film. They're going with X-Men: Days Of Future Past, a storyline that involves a type of time travel. Speculation was this could bridge the gap (regardless of plot holes) between X-Men: First Class and the trilogy of X-Men films that came before it. We might finally have confirmation on that thanks to Sir Patrick Stewart who spilled the beans about his involvement at a recent convention appearance.

  15. 7 Ways to Save The X-Men Franchise From Itself (Or At Least Give It a Kick in the Pants)

    Power Grid

With a new official image from upcoming sequel prequel (?) The Wolverine surfacing all over the nerd 'Net - not to mention announcements about the sequel prequel (ok, we need a word for these) to X-Men: First Class - it got me thinking about my favorite group of neurotic post-humans and how things are going for them at the box office. While the fact that we even need a word for the sequel to a prequel makes me want to burn my film degree and run screaming into the woods... it's also a symptom of the larger diseases plaguing the X-franchise.

  16. We Officially Know the Title of the X-Men: First Class Sequel

    Imagine What You'll Know Tomorrow

Oh, the business of anticipating movies. It can be painful sometimes, like when the team takes a painstakingly long time to get their stuff together and actually agree to it. Luckily for us, when it comes to the X-Men: First Class sequel--that is, a sequel to a prequel--it actually seems to be moving at a reasonable pace. Set to open in the summer of 2014, the title of the upcoming film has now been revealed.

    Consider the Following

Just an idea to run by all of you, as we find ourselves in the midst of a very busy and exciting summer of gigantic movies, including Prometheus and the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. Throw in a little Marvel magic, a little more Christopher Nolan, put the spotlight on Michael Fassbender, and choose a different franchise -- Bond. James Bond. Keep in mind: Daniel Craig might be vacating the Bond role... (via Movieline)

    Our Adorable Past

Michael Fassbender will soon be appearing in the Ridley Scott sci-fi epic Prometheus but perhaps he only took the role because it was the next best thing to another beloved space franchise. You see, the actor loves Star Wars, he had tons of Star Wars toys growing up, and he still has them.
