X-Men: Days of Future Past

  1. Fiskal Responsibility: How a Supervillain Did Right by Autistic Characters

Being part of a marginalized group and looking for representation in pop culture can be both entertaining and incredibly frustrating. Because there are so few explicit examples, there’s lots of fun to be had devising headcanons--that is, one’s own interpretation of content never made explicit in the text—but as much fun as that can be, it can be disheartening thinking about all your favorite (in my case) autistic characters and then realizing 90% of them were never confirmed as such.

And by baby I mean teenager, and by teenager, I mean I am old.

  3. X-Men: Days of Future Past Gets the How It Should Have Ended Treatment

    Still needs more Kitty.

I really didn't like X-Men: Days of Future Past, so you can bet I've been dying to see the How It Should Have Ended version. It doesn't quite go in the direction I expected but it's certainly an improvement.

  4. X-Men’s Jane Goldman Joining Fables Film Writing Team, Updates on Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts

David Heyman's Paddington is making haymen at the box office, and so he's doing the usual press thing, which means he's being asked about his other projects, i.e., two geek properties that have women writing their screenplays, so, up our alley.

  5. Apparently Sirs Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Won’t Have Roles in X-Men: Apocalypse

While I was on an insane high from hearing Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan might play young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, I have found a new low in hearing we likely won't be seeing Sir Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen at all.

After having 99% of her screentime unceremoniously chopped from X-Men: Days of Future Past, Anna Paquin's Rogue will finally get to take part in some futureverse shenanigans when her scenes are included in a special "Rogue Cut" of the film, set to come out in 2015.

  12. James McAvoy Hints at Professor Xavier’s Hair Loss In X-Men: Apocalypse

It's okay, Charles, the '80s will do that to you.

X-Men sticklers will tell you - Professor Xavier is as bald as a cueball. But when you're casting a leading man for your film about young, hip mutants, you couldn't possibly make him shave his head. No one finds that appealing. Nope. But as timelines converge it seems the creators of the franchise may be starting to fold to the pressure. Will James McAvoy start losing those locks in X-Men: Apocalypse?

  15. Rad Concept Art Re-Designs of Maleficent (And Also Kitty Pride) Show Us What Could Have Been

Oh dear, what an awesome situation.

Conceptual artists Jerad S. Marantz  and Kelton Cram have two things in common: they both worked on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and they both really enjoy drawing Angelina Jolie with various types of badass horns on her head. You're going to want to see this, because as gorgeous as Maleficent looked in the Disney film, we simply cannot get enough of lady horns.

    Do Try This At Home

To celebrate the release of the latest X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, here’s a fun themed project you can put together in a day. Much like every X-Men movie, I’ve decided to focus on Wolverine. With each film, the big screen has served as a catalyst to build up his character, so in kind, we will be building up our very own crocheted Wolverine. Even though I enjoy Hugh Jackman’s performance, I like Wolverine the most when he’s covered in yellow spandex. So my crocheted version is inspired by his comic costume. I’ve turned this tough, wiseass into an adorable amigurumi, and with this tutorial, you can too.
