  3. Kitten Tries to Play Smash Bros. on Wii U, Wins at Being Adorable

Its final smash is just being paralyzingly cute.

Seriously. Just watch this kitten play Wii U's fastest-selling game. It's the day before Thanksgiving weekend. You're not doing anything else anyway.

  4. Watch People Hilariously Misidentify the Cast of Smash Bros., Wii U’s New Fastest-Selling Game Ever

You know what? No one correct the Rosalina one. That's probably helping.

Serious Nintendophiles and Smash fans—as if those two are ever separate things—prepare to facepalm as a bunch of people still call some of the most popular video game characters of all time by the wrong names! It's OK, though; Smash Bros. for Wii U is now the Wii U's fastest-selling game in the United States!

  5. A 10-Year-Old Tearing It Up at a Smash Bros. Wii U Event Is Excellent Marketing

No matter what the Internet says about it.

We're infinitely bummed out that this video of 10-year-old Karissa wrecking at Smash Bros. is just footage of a marketing stunt, but that doesn't mean it's not great. Without contrary evidence, I probably would've believed it after she almost won the first match, although mostly because Sheik is such a hot pile of bullcrap in this game that it wouldn't surprise me to see an infant win with her.

  6. Nintendo Tweets 2014/15 Release Timeframe List With Wii U Zelda and Star Fox

    Get N or get out.

Nintendo is getting aggressive about its release timetable to try to turn things around for the Wii U, and this newly-tweeted schedule for 2014 and 2015 says we'll have both a new Zelda and Star Fox by the end of the year—not to mention the huge list of Wii U games for the first half of 2015 on top of both Smash Bros. games coming out this year. That's certainly one way to turn around the idea that there's no reason to buy your company's console.

  7. My Painfully Short Hands-On With Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at Nintendo’s Smash Fest

And my comparatively long tale about it.

Last night, hundreds of Smash Bros. fans lined up outside of Best Buy to get a chance to play the Wii U version of Smash Bros. before its release this holiday season, and that was just at my local Best Buy. But we were patient, and we waited, and we finally got the chance to play the game. You know what? It was worth it.

  8. Luigi’s Death Stare Is the Best Reason to Buy Mario Kart 8

In case you needed additional reasons.

Luigi is a one-man kart-racing meme machine in Mario Kart 8. In several slow motion videos and a handful of facial expressions, Mario Kart 8 has taught us more about Luigi's inner badass than any game he's been in so far. As his "death stare" expression very clearly states, the year of Luigi's not over, motherf@$&ers.

  9. Smashers Rejoice! Nintendo Unveils GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U and Smash Tournament Specifics

They detailed tournament specifics with high profile tournament players, announcers, and a Wii U GameCube controller adapter!

  10. Win a Spot in Nintendo’s Smash Bros. E3 Tournament

"Win a chance at demoralizing defeat!" —Nintendo (pretty much).

Nintendo is looking for a People's Challenger. No, that's not some kind of communist folk hero (that I know of); it's your chance to play in their Smash Bros. Wii U tournament at E3 on June 10!

  11. Rumors Are Flying of New Nintendo Hardware at This Year’s E3

    It's a secret to everybody.

I was skeptical of the "Nintendo Fusion" console rumors that started circulating earlier in the year, but with the Wii U becoming rapidly eclipsed by newer systems from competitors, I'm coming around to the idea of Nintendo cutting the Wii U's life short. Now there are strong rumors suggesting that Nintendo will show this new console at this year's E3.

  13. Nintendo Pulling the Plug on Wii and DS Online Multiplayer, Here’s What That Means for You

Your poor Wii is going to be so lonely.

Nintendo is moving forward into the future, everyone, and that means systematically killing off the Wii and DS to get players to move from the older systems to the newer ones. They stopped producing the Wii in Japan near the end of 2013, and now Wii games will be losing their online multiplayer components.

  14. PlayStation 4 Closing in on Wii U Sales Numbers, Looks to Be King This Generation

Cue the angry fanboys (and girls).

After the fastest-selling console launch in history back in November, the PlayStation 4 has continued to rack up impressive sales numbers, and Sony has just announced that the console has topped 5.3 million units sold worldwide. For comparison, the Wii U's sales numbers in December, more than a year after its launch, were at 5.86 million.

  16. The New Sonic Game Looks Goofy as Sh**… and Then the Dubstep Happens

Someone tell Knuckles to put down the `roids.

Let the trailer for the new Sonic the Hedgehog reboot, Sonic Boom, leave you feeling like a confused old person. The new character designs are really weird looking in 3D, and Knuckles looks like some kind of `roided out fan art. Then the dubstep kicks in. You can almost hear Sega begging the younger generation to get on board.

There have been a lot of rumblings about Nintendo in the press lately, but last night's investor briefing finally brought everyone some rumblings from Nintendo, and it was pretty good news. 18. The Wii U Is Flopping, So What Can Nintendo Do to Get Me to Buy One?

It starts with an "S" and ends with "mash Brothers had better be great."

News that Nintendo's Wii U is flopping is all over the place, and company President Satoru Iwata is scrambling to apologize to investors. While reports that this is the start of a death spiral for the company are silly, it's equally silly to ignore that Nintendo is clearly on the wrong path with the Wii U, so what can they do about it?

  19. Nintendo Tries to Remind Consumers Its New System Exists, and It’s Kind of Hard to Watch

How the mighty have fallen. If you need us, we'll be with our NES.

Nintendo has realized that the wider market it tapped with the Wii doesn't understand new console generations, and they didn't make it any easier by keeping the Wii look and just tacking a "U" onto the end of the name. It's good that they've realized the problem, but that doesn't make their current efforts to fix it less embarrassing.

  20. Rosalina Is the First New Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS Character Announced Since June, She Looks… Interesting

They had us at Mega Man, but this is certainly a welcome surprise.

The Smash Bros. official website has been updated daily for the last few months, and a few cast members have been announced on it since the reveal of Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Mega Man, who is a huge draw for the game all by himself. All of the rest have been returning characters, though, until yesterday.
