  1. Toy Story 4 to be Romantic Comedy (?), Not a Sequel to the Other Films

A Potato Head love story? I'd be down.

We'll always have Andy's room: according to studio president Jim Morris, Disney's Toy Story 4 will take the franchise in an entirely new direction.

  2. Anthropomorphizing the Mundane: Five Fictional Objects that Messed Us Up

    We meet again, onion ninjas.

I was one of those kids who was absolutely convinced that my toys came to life when I was asleep and led full lives. Not only that, but I can remember getting out of bed to put a pair of shoes together so they wouldn't have to spend the night alone.

  3. Here Are Your First Dino-Bashing Clips From The Toy Story That Time Forgot

Just some dinosaurs from down the street.

No, no, we're still a long way from Toy Story 4. These are promos for The Toy Story That Time Forgot, or the Pixar franchise's second holiday special. I think what I'm most excited about in this teaser (and the longer promo below) is the nod that anyone who was a kid in the early nineties will recognize: generic animal-human hybrid warrior toy lines.

  5. The Toy Story That Time Forgot Gets a New Synopsis and Poster

It's just a dinosaur down the street, don't worry about it.

As satisfying and heartbreaking as Toy Story 3 was for so many of us, we can't say no to spending just a little more time with our favorite characters— particularly those like Kristen Schaal's Trixie (above) whom we only got to meet for a little while. Good thing she's going to have a lot to do in the upcoming ABC Christmas Special, The Toy Story That Time Forgot!

  6. Here’s What Toy Story Would Be Like As A Horror Movie

Hey, Andy. Do you want to play a game?

Just a few days ago, we were contemplating how few animated horror films there are in the Western market. Today, we have this epic re-cutting of Toy Story as a horror film. Coincidence? Completely, but the trailer remains just as good, and we're still convinced we need more animated horror films.

    Our Adorable Past

French illustrator Sylvain Sarrailh may make you think you're remembering childhood wrong with his series of "BADASS" character designs. Some may make you laugh, others may make you cry, but part of me is curled up in the corner rocking back and forth saying, "Can't sleep, clown will eat me."

  9. If Pixar Characters Abandoned Kid’s Movies For Video Games

    To infinity and beyond!

Mass Effect Buzz Lightyear is killing me with wonderfulness, but the other pieces in renegade21's series of Pixar characters in video games aren't half bad, either. "If you had the chance to load from your last save point... would you?" (via: Kotaku)

    To infinity and beyond!

Over the course of their history, Pixar has created some incredibly memorable worlds-- and with those worlds, the fictional establishments that inhabit them. Any kid who's seen Toy Story could identify Pizza Planet, or Al's Toy Barn. Artist Mario Graciotti paid homage to these places with this series of posters based on all of the best Pixar businesses. Remember these? Check out the gallery to see!

  12. Don’t Look Directly at This Amazing Pixar Theory or Your Face Might Melt From Joy

Oh God, it's full of stars.

Everybody loves trying to connect all of the films of a particular director or film company so that they exist in the same universe. Naturally, Pixar's various Easter eggs and cross-film references makes it a shoe-in for this kind of nerd speculation. Many have tried, and all have failed thus far, but writer Jon Negroni has probably gotten the closest that we're ever going to get to integrating all the Pixar movies into one narrative. His theory is a work of genius. I might cry.

  13. Our First Look At The New Toy Story Short Featuring Jessie!

where does he get those wonderful toys

We were excited to hear Toy Story was getting a Halloween Special but we finally have a few more details as well as this first image. The half-hour short is set to air on ABC and is called Toy Story of Terror. TV Guide reports:
[It] follows the adventures of the toys post-Toy Story 3, in which a fun road trip takes a very unexpected turn. "Bonnie is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk," producer Galyn Susman says. "Mom gets a flat tire and they have to spend the night at a motel and all kinds of chaos ensues."While Terror will include Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles) and Rex (Wallace Shawn), Jessie (Joan Cusack) will have a more prominent role in the special. "We've gotten to see a lot of development in Woody and in Buzz and we felt it was Jesse's turn to really show some growth." Susman says.
About time, I'd say. Look for the special this October.

  15. Toy Story, Yes, The Entire Film, Recreated With Real Dolls And People [VIDEO]

where does he get those wonderful toys

We previously saw a small sampling of this project - a live-action version of Disney's original Toy Story. Now, after two years, it's complete and all we can do it be impressed by 21-year-old Jesse Perrotta and 19-year-old Jonason Pauley's hard work. The official Facebook page for the project features link to a few foreign language dubs and you can even watch outtakes here. “I wasn’t positive we were actually really going to do the whole thing,” Perrotta told ABC. “I was worried about the scenes at the end. We had to train the dog, get a moving truck, film a chase scene with toys – but we just stayed positive and took it one day at a time.” (via Movies.com) Are you following The Mary Sue on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, & Google +?

  16. Here’s Toy Story‘s Jessie and Bullseye in All Their Wild West Glory

    Supergirly

Jessie from the Toy Story trilogy doesn't get enough love. I want her, Mulan, and Chel from The Road to El Dorado to have a movie where it's just 90 minutes of them riding around on horses having adventures. Merida from Brave can come too. Anyway. Artist Lyla Warren has brought Jessie to life with this awesome sculpture of her and Bullseye. Some detail shots are behind the jump, so you can get the full 3D effect, plus two other sculptures, one Disney and one Pixar. I particularly like Warren's take on dragon Maleficent.

I have a love-hate relationship with Threadless. On the one hand, I love their designs. On the other, I can't make myself pay $25 for a t-shirt. It's just not happening. But I can still admire the awesome tees that make up their new Toy Story collection from afar. Kinda sucks that Jessie's not on any of 'em, though. Et tu, Threadless? Et tu?

  18. NASA Astronauts Are Starting To Look Like Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear

    To infinity and beyond!

NASA did have an astronaut named Buzz so maybe this new spacesuit is more appropriate than we thought. You're looking at the Z-1 Prototype Spacesuit and Portable Life Support System 2.0, aka a real space suit that looks a lot like Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear. THR writes, "And this isn't the only Buzz Lightyear/NASA crossover: Disney and NASA have joined forces to develop hands-on educational activities and exhibits centered around the character's fictional voyage to, and 450 days spent living inside, the International Space Station."
