Jaimie Alexander Talks Sif’s Role in Thor: The Dark World, Whether We Can Expect a Love Triangle

On the Iron Man 3 red carpet Bleeding Cool caught up with Lady Sif herself, Jaimie Alexander, to talk about Thor: The Dark World, the trailer for which had just been released earlier that day. The extent of the 100% spoiler-free comments she made is that the Thor sequel “definitely [has] a darker feel” than its predecessor. Fitting, given the title.

It’s her more spoilery comments about the potential for a love triangle between Sif, Thor, and Jane that caught my attention, though. Vague unmarked spoilers are behind the cut. Come have feels with me.

The 13 Best Reactions to Loki’s New Hair From My Tumblr Queue Last Night

I said we’d talk about this later, and now we are. I lazily pulled up Tumblr last night during a break from arranging some instrumental Doctor Who music for my a capella group (you can decide on your own whether that is true or not) and discovered that fandom had found a new chew toy and it was the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Specifically, it was the trailer’s one shot of potentially former villain Loki, the first reveal of his brand new The Dark World ‘do.

It has not gone unnoticed that Thor and Loki both sported longer hair in The Avengers than in their initial cinematic appearances, or that Chris Hemsworth’s ‘do got even longer, even incorporating a braid, for The Dark World. Fans wondered if Loki’s hair would follow suit. Fans wondered if this hair lengthening would ever stop, and if by The Avengers 3 the other members of the team would be indistinguishable as every room becomes filled, top to bottom, with the soft, golden locks of the Thunder God as soon as he enters it. But I digress. You can watch the new teaser here, if you haven’t already. Lets look at the best reactions from our dashboard and the Loki tag.

Watch the Thor: The Dark World Teaser That Broke Tumblr

Okay, so this didn’t literally break Tumblr. The site didn’t go down, but… Well, we’ll talk more about that later. I’m prepared to enjoy this teaser with one reservation. Thor is still an affable lunkhead who’ll just zip his girlfriend off to another dimension without much warning; Sif is still a badass; and the opening image of the trailer, which, while minor, I don’t want to spoil, is conceptually fascinating. I do wish this teaser didn’t make such a damsel out of Jane Foster as it appears to. For now, in the absence of more evidence, I’ll trust that her character’s role has been necessarily diminished by the contraints of making a snappy trailer, especially considering Natalie Portman‘s efforts to shake up the behind the scenes gender imbalance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which Marvel has apparently made “concessions” towards.

Also, I may have been distracted by Loki. You’ll understand what I mean when you watch it.

Things We Saw Today: First Thor Poster

“It’s rare that you have a poster that is just Chris Hemsworth shooting on the set,” said Marvel president of production Kevin Feige. “But he just looks like Thor. We just put in some lightning, and he’s got his hammer and you’re there.” Duh, because Hemsworth IS Thor. (via USA Today)

Marvel’s Sneak Peek at Phase 2: Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Guardians and Ant Man

MAHVEL by pepsiguy2

If you hang around anywhere that fandom congregates on the internet you might be wondering where all these gifs of new stuff from Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 footage and new concept art for Captain America 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy came from. Well, it’s all about briefcases. Specifically, it’s about when the makers of Nick Fury’s chrome briefcase containing the Cosmic Cube tesseract sued Marvel for designing a very expensive DVD collection of all the Phase 1 Marvel movies that would be sold in a replica of that case. This led to Marvel having to delay the release of the Phase 1 collection for a while. In fact, it just came out this week. In that DVD collection is a five minute featurette on what’s going on with Marvel Phase 2, which is where much of that new stuff is from.

And now you can watch it too, at least until it gets pulled down for copyright reasons. Enjoy!

Edit: Aaaaand it’s been pulled down for copyright reasons. A one-minute Phase 2 Preview that Marvel uploaded instead is behind the jump. It’s not as interesting, but what’re you gonna do?

Thor’s Jaimie Alexander On Wonder Woman: It’s Embarrassing For Me As A Woman

Thor star Jaimie Alexander’s name is one that pops up frequently on dream casting for Wonder Woman, and if you saw her kicking butt as Sif, you know why. But while the actress herself would love to play Diana, she’s not sure she actually would if asked. Why? Well because no one treats Wonder Woman with respect, of course. Click ahead to see the awesome truths Alexander laid down recently about women in superhero properties.
