Things We Saw Today: Lots of April Fools’ Day Gags

As they have become famous for, rolled out a bunch of “new” products today. Unfortunately they’re all April Fools’ Day jokes. The one we’re most upset over? The Klingon Rosetta Stone. Because seriously, I’ve always wanted to learn Klingon. But also, the Unicorn Drinking Horn (pictured above) should go into production immediately. Only larger. Much larger.

UGG, These TARDIS Boot Slippers

Step away from UGG-style shoes, ThinkGeek. Though they actually do look pretty snuggly—. No. Step away.

R2-D2 Charger Brings the Best Part of an X-Wing to Your Car

Who could say no to a little R2-D2 riding shotgun, extending helpful cables that recharge your devices and emitting the occasional soft “beepboop.” I know I couldn’t, so it’s a good thing I don’t own a car.

You should not be surprised that this is a ThinkGeek product.

Make It So

HerUniverse Boldly Goes Where No T-Shirt Has Gone Before

HerUniverse recently held a design contest in conjunction with ThinkGeek for an exclusive Star Trek t-shirt. The winner? This “EntHERprise design. “I almost didn’t enter this one, assuming everyone else in the competition would also instantly notice that the classic female symbol sure looks like the top view of the original Enterprise, with nacelles added on, of course,” said winner Jeremy Sniatecki. “I ran the concept by my wife, who is a major sci-fi fan and a trusted sounding board for all things creative, and she LOVED the simplicity of it! ‘I would TOTALLY buy and wear that!’ she said, and so I entered it! She’s very choosy about her own nerdy t-shirt purchases, so that was high praise indeed.” The fact that no one has done this before blows my mind. I will be needing one immediately. Get yours at ThinkGeek.

Beware: There’s A Walking Dead Version of Monopoly Now

Everything gets the Monopoly treatment eventually. It’s like a zombie outbreak in itself. There’s Beatles Monopoly, Justice League Monopoly, Disney Villains Monopoly – when I was a kid, I even had a Star Wars monopoly PC game. This edition of the classic boardgame is available at ThinkGeek and is described as “everything you know and loved about Monopoly, but with 100% more zombie flavor.” See the board and pieces under the jump.

ThinkGeek Will Donate All Jayne Hat Proceeds to Firefly Charity

It’s become clear this week that now that Fox has actually decided to license merchandise based on the ten year old television series with a massive cult following that might actually have lasted more than a season if they hadn’t heavily interfered with it’s scheduling, episode order, and air dates… they’re going start taking shots at the smaller, unlicensed retailers that have been serving the market niche they’ve been ignoring. This has left a lot of folks pretty angry.

ThinkGeek, a, well, nerdy stuff retailer with really savvy social media presence, is one of the outlets that carries Fox’s now official Jayne Hat, one of the most recognizable pieces of clothing in the series. And they’ve announced, in the wake of Fox’s cease and desists to Etsy Users, to donate all profits they make from the sales of Fox’s Jayne Hats to Can’t Stop the Serenity.

The Ladies of Battlestar Galactica Get Classical

I’ve just started watching Battlestar Galactica, and I can feel the fever of obsession approaching. These awesome “Ladies of BSG” posters by Megan Lara, for sale at ThinkGeek, aren’t helping.

Hit the jump for individual shots of all four posters.
