A Day in the Life of Yeardley Smith, Voice of Lisa Simpson

Yeardley Smith takes us through a typical work day in a completely unscripted way in which I’m sure nothing is exaggerated or fabricated for comedic effect. Thank goodness.

The Simpsons Attempt The Harlem Shake, Fail Miserably [VIDEO]

I love The Simpsons, really I do, and we don’t normally post things on the site to knock them but I figured some people might get a kick out of this. The show creators decided to do their own take on the Harlem Shake, called “The Homer Shake,” for their couch gag this week. It doesn’t quite work. But I do give them credit for trying to be relevant, they aren’t know for being able to pull together current items like this because of their animation schedules, and because Lisa is reading a book titled, “Last to the Party.”

I guess this means this whole thing is done now, right?

Things We Saw Today: Benedict Cumberbatch Playing Professor Snape

If you’re a Benedict Cumberbatch fan, you probably already know he does a mean Alan Rickman impression. Well, the creators of The Simpsons have decided to utilize that talent for this Sunday’s Valentine’s-themed episode. Not only does he voice Severus Snape, he also does the Prime Minister. Unfortunately, the video is not embeddable, watch a clip over at Entertainment Weekly.

The Epic Discovery of the World’s Oldest Dinosaur… In a Storage Closet

The oldest dinosaur in the world has been found, but paleontologists didn’t discover the fossil (y’see, because it’s really, really old and also because it’s a literal fossil… oh, shut up, I haven’t had my mocha yet) at some Jurassic Park-esque dig. Nope. It had just been squirreled away in a closet for some 50-odd years.

In the store room the Natural History Museum in London, to be exact. The remains were dug up in Tanzania in the mid-1930s and were studied for several decades before being put into storage. Recent study dates the new species, called Nyasasaurus parringtoni, at between 247 million and 235 million years old, making it between 10 and 15 million years older than the next-oldest dinosaur we know about.

See What Superman Would Look Like As Other Pop-Culture Characters

Artist Mike Mitchell, who goes by Sir Mitchell, took it upon himself to play around with Kal-El’s iconic image from the cover of Superman #6 from 1940. Thanks to his “fun little side-project” we get to see what the Man of Steel would look like as pop-culture characters like Harry Potter, The Tin Man, Charlie Brown, and more (plus one bonus astronomer). We think they’re pretty great. Take a look for yourself.

The opening credit sequence for The Simpsons has changed throughout its 20+ year run but one thing has always stayed the same. Well, sorta. I’m talking about the classic couch gag that ends each one. It’s a new idea every time and now Fox would like to hear your ideas. The incentive? It could wind up on television.
