Time Travel Trip of the Day: The Muppet Show References Doctor Who

One of the things about The Muppet Show that isn’t obvious to the casual observer is that it was filmed in England because even with the success of Sesame Street (or perhaps because of it), the only production company interested in trying to produce a Muppet series for adults was Associated Television in Elstree, England. While this was great for the Star Wars episode, because props and costumes could literally be wheeled down the street from the sets of The Empire Strikes Back, it was a bit of an annoying hurdle for all of the American celebrities the show was trying to attract as guest stars. But despite its technical nation of origin, according to Anthony Strand, this is the only mention of Doctor Who that ever made it on the show.

Our First Look at Tina Fey in The Muppets… Again!

Here’s our first look at Tina Fey in her role as a Russian prison guard for the movie that is still being called The Muppets… Again!. The frog next to her, whatever you might think, is likely the jewel-thieving Constantine, a dead ringer for Kermit T. Frog.

The Muppets… Again! May Bring Back Long Lost Female Muppet Character and Long Gone Female Puppeteer

An alternative title to this post might be ‘Making A Post About a Muppet Almost No One Has Heard About and Her Performer Returning for The Muppets Sequel Constitutes a Clear Abuse of my Power As Managing Editor.’

But according to Tough Pigs sources, Annie Sue and even her Muppeteer Louise Gold will be returning for The Muppets… Again!, and that’s great, because I love the Muppets but they seriously have two female characters that anyone has ever heard of*. When you’re still disappointed, as an adult, that Big-Fat-Ugly-Bug-Face-Baby-Eating O’Brien didn’t at least become a running gag instead of a one-off joke, you get excited about these kind of things.

Les Miserables Production Designer Leaks Major Muppet News

Eve Stewart, fresh off winning a BAFTA for her work on Les Miserables, is spending her time on a much happier musical at the moment: The Muppets… Again!, currently filming in London. The production designer may have just spoiled a plot point of TM…A in an interview.

Or it could just be another ambiguous fake out, I suppose.

Here’s Our First Look at the New Muppets Movie, its Cast, and Synopsis

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive photo of the Muppets on a whirlwind tour of Europe set to comprise the initial plot of what is being called The Muppets…Again!, a title full of all the punctuation that Star Trek Into Darkness is missing. Seriously. That’s a dumb title, The Muppets…Again! I don’t care how good you generally are are at self-referential 4th wall breaking. See? Nobody can even tell that that was two sentences. I’m not putting a non-italicized period just after an italicized exclamation point. That’s just gross.

But I forgive you, because you’ve confirmed that Tina Fey is your female lead.
