The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

  1. New The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Poster Reveals Katniss’ Face & Amazingly Detailed Costume

    Loving the outfit.

Over the last few weeks we've seen the Rebel posters from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and a character poster of Jennifer Lawrence with her back toward the camera, which I thought was the only one we were going to get for Katinss (because SYMBOLISM!). But turns out Lionsgate had one more up their sleeve. It's their #TheMockingjayLives poster and wowza. It's pretty intense.

  3. Donald Sutherland is the Most Evil Who Ever Eviled: Throws Berries At Hunger Games Fans

And YOU get a berry! And YOU get a berry! And..OW MY EYE!

Donald Sutherland has an illustrious career trailing behind him but I wonder if, when he signed onto The Hunger Games trilogy, he ever could have conceived of this moment. It comes courtesy of the Teen Choice Awards where Sutherland took home the award for Best Villain (not to mention the fancy surf board) and had a little bit of fun with The Hunger Games fans in the crowd.

  4. If Katniss Went To Hogwarts: Jennifer Lawrence Face Blocks Emma Watson At The Dior Fashion Show

    Wingardium Levios-A THIS!

Ok, we don't really think Katniss Everdeen and Hermione Granger would fight if they lived in the same universe (unless that universe had Panem in it, of course), they're both smart, fiercely loyal characters. So what the heck possessed Jennifer Lawrence to grab Emma Watson's face while taking lovely photos together at a Dior show?

  6. The Hunger Games Salute Has Been Adopted By A Real World Struggle In Thailand

    Real Or Not Real?

We found this tweet through The Hollywood Reporter who write "protestors have begun flashing the gesture as an act of defiant solidarity against the recent takeover of Thailand's civilian government by the military."

  7. Behold! The 2014 Hugo Award Nominees!

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Orphan Black, Gravity, Frozen, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Pacific Rim, Iron Man 3, Saga, and more high-quality SF/F than you can shake a stick at. That certainly covers a whole bunch of our post tags. The Hugo Awards honor both pros and fans alike, and as usual, the 2014 nominees provide a superb checklist of things to read, watch, and enjoy. The winners will be announced on Sunday, August 17 at Loncon 3 (aka the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention). The full list of nominees is available below. And should you need to gush about your favorites, mention absent works you feel are deserving (*cough* Janelle Monae's The Electric Lady for Best Related Work *cough*), or...ah...have a measured discussion about nominees you may object to, the comments are here for your disposal.

  8. The Honest Trailer Team Turns Their Snark On Frozen and Catching Fire [VIDEO]

    Fans Do Cool Things

I don't always agree with Honest Trailers—the way they describe Katniss in their Catching Fire vid (behind the cut) rubs me the wrong way, for example—but their take on Frozen is pretty much spot-on. Especially when it comes to "Let It Go." It's been over a week since I listened to that song, and now I'm going to be listening to it again on repeat for the next 48 hours. Thanks, guys. Screw you.

  9. And Now, The Winners Of the First Annual Mary Sues

Not all that glitters is gold

You over the Oscars yet? Over its lack of surprises and its egregious absence of extravagant musical numbers (AMPAS, how can you have Ellen host and not give her a dance number?) and its general boringness? Good. Me, too. We have a much more fun awards reveal for you today: The 2014 Mary Sues, which is like the Oscars, except only geeky films are in the running and for the last month we've invited you to vote on the winners. And we have something the Academy Awards doesn't have: GIFS. Let's get started:

  10. Man Repaints Catching Fire Katniss Barbie So It Looks Exactly Like Jennifer Lawrence

    Real Or Not Real?

We posted the spectacular Noel Cruz's work before. He has a knack for turning what are terribly disappointing depictions of actors' doll counterparts and creating what could almost be a mirror image. His latest masterpiece? Jennifer Lawerence's Katniss Everdeen. Check out a few more shots and find out how you can own it after the jump.
