Not to Play Favorites, But Genderswapped “Bombshell Avengers” Was the Best Cosplay at WonderCon

Hey, I call it like I see it. But I’m also biased, because I really enjoy an old-fashioned clothing aesthetic, as opposed to other old-fashioned things like fewer rights for women and penicillin not having been invented. But I’m getting sidetracked. This cosplay group, photographed by Justin Davidson (more pics at the link), is amazing. I’m giving up on cosplay, because I don’t think I can improve on that Red Skull.

And Now, A Few Pop Culture Favorites, Immortalized In Marshmallow Peeps

How better to commemorate pop culture and children’s books than with strangely resilient marshmallow confections? That’s Nerdalicious! pointed us in the direction of Sugar Swings (run by Michelle Clausen), where many a bunny has been transformed. Click through for the sugary goodness.

In the Name of the Moon, Sailor Avengers, Assemble!

How much cooler would The Avengers have been if the giant alien battle at the end was preceded by a five-minute transformation sequence? Honestly. Also, Victoria at our sister site Geekosystem suggested Nick Fury as Tuxedo Mask, and now I can’t unsee it. I’m going to turn around, and after ten minutes when I turn back if someone hasn’t Photoshopped this I am going to be very disappointed in all of you.

Edit: Victoria herself stepped up to the challenge. Now who’s going to Photoshop an eyepatch, top hat, and swishy cape on Nick Fury? I’m waiting.

Maybe it’s just that for the first time in my life I actually miss having time to work out, but Neila Rey’s pop culture themed work outs are really  as physically challenging and logistically easy as one could hope, and for every kind of nerd reference you might care to make. We’ve posted only a few here, there are lots more at her site.

Things We Saw Today: Lots of April Fools’ Day Gags

As they have become famous for, ThinkGeek.com rolled out a bunch of “new” products today. Unfortunately they’re all April Fools’ Day jokes. The one we’re most upset over? The Klingon Rosetta Stone. Because seriously, I’ve always wanted to learn Klingon. But also, the Unicorn Drinking Horn (pictured above) should go into production immediately. Only larger. Much larger.

A Whedonverse Favorite Has Been Cast as Agent Coulson’s Infamous ‘Cellist

This is really the strength that SHIELD should be aiming for: filling in the holes of the Marvel Universe that we would normally turn to fan fiction for. A throwaway line, like the one in The Avengers where Coulson and Pepper Potts discuss his long distance relationship with an unnamed ‘cellist, in a network as large as the one crafting Marvel’s shared cinema universe, is one destined to only be explored by fans. But Marvel has confirmed that it will be featuring that unnamed musician in an upcoming episode of SHIELD.

Geek Lip Balm for Half a Dozen Fandoms Probably Smells Great

According to Geek Fire Labs, Loki smells of peaches and honey, Katniss of cinnamon and french vanilla, Marceline of strawberries, and your patronus of white chocolate, vanilla, and mint. I don’t have problems with any of these, and if you feel the same way, you can buy their charmingly decorated lip balms on Etsy, alone, in a batch, or as a gift set with cute buttons.
