The biggest news on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 front lately has been some Getty Images pictures (snapped by Bobby Bank) of Emma Stone standing by a railing. Lots of folks are taking it as evidence that TASM2 will be dropping the proverbial other shoe when it comes to her character, and… oh, fine, I’ll put a thirty year old plot point under a spoiler cut. Lots of folks are taking it as evidence that TASM2 will be killing Gwen Stacy.
I’m not convinced, but if you don’t want to find out what’s under that spoiler tag, don’t read the rest of the post.

Well we already knew they weren’t going to make Jamie Foxx dress up in a yellow and green supervillain costume for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 but I’m not sure this is what anyone expected Electro to look like. Those lights might be tracking dots with the added value of creating some electric glow to help with post-production but what do you think of the look? Looks like they’re taking the mutated villain route again. I’m assuming this is an in between look and that he’ll have a full costume later in the film.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently filming in New York and while that means we’re seeing shots of Andrew Garfield’s upgraded costume (which looks basically the same) floating around, it’s also yielded us our first look at Shailene Woodley’s Mary Jane! [My daughter] dressed as Spider-Man for Halloween and had a Spider-Man jumper. Yesterday, I took her to the set, she didn’t know [that I had been cast], and she says, ‘What is this?’ I said, ‘Daddy’s going to be in ‘Spider-Man. She says, ‘Is Spider-Man going to beat you up?’ and I said, ‘I don’t know.” She says, ‘Good.’ – Jamie Foxx, who will be playing the villain Electro in the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.
According to Foxx, his daughter also had a Spider-Man themed birthday party last year. Welcome to the fold, Ms. Foxx, and if anybody tells you you’re faking it, make sure they know your dad’s gone toe to toe with Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.
