Jaimie Alexander Talks Sif’s Role in Thor: The Dark World, Whether We Can Expect a Love Triangle

On the Iron Man 3 red carpet Bleeding Cool caught up with Lady Sif herself, Jaimie Alexander, to talk about Thor: The Dark World, the trailer for which had just been released earlier that day. The extent of the 100% spoiler-free comments she made is that the Thor sequel “definitely [has] a darker feel” than its predecessor. Fitting, given the title.

It’s her more spoilery comments about the potential for a love triangle between Sif, Thor, and Jane that caught my attention, though. Vague unmarked spoilers are behind the cut. Come have feels with me.

Jaimie Alexander Talks About Her Thor 2 Set Injury (And She’s Okay)

In September we got the news that Jaimie Alexander had been injured on the set of Thor 2, but just as quickly we received, from the actress herself, reassurances that she was recovering just fine and had sustained no permanent damage. She talked about how she got hurt, and the full extent of her injuries to the New York Post recently, however, and it turns out she was out of the shoot for a month!

Hello, ladies, look at your Thor, now back to Thor 2, now back at Thor, now back to Thor 2. Sadly, Thor isn’t Thor 2, but if we wait long enough, eventually Thor: The Dark World will come out to theaters. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a website with a bunch of new set pics from Thor 2. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s a battle sequence on that set everybody’s been taking pictures of. Look again, the battle sequence now features Lady Sif. Anything is possible when your movie smells like wet wigs and features a kickass lady. Sif’s on a horse.

Idris Elba Is Back As Heimdall For Thor 2, Says We’ll Learn More About The Asgardians

You’ll be able to see Idris Elba very soon in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, but the British actor recently dropped some hints on Marvel Studios’ Thor 2. Namely that he’ll be back to take up Heimdall’s mantle in the film. But as much as we love Elba, what we’d like to know is, will there be more Sif?

Patty Jenkins Might Be the First Woman to Direct a Marvel Studios Movie

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios are just about to go into negotiations with their first pick for directing Thor 2, the movie that will pick up with the God of Thunder after his first stint in The Avengers. Their first pick?

Patty Jenkins, a director who has worked on Arrested Development and Entourage, and was the writer and director of Monster, the movie that won Charlize Theron pretty much every Best Actress award out there.

Jaimie Alexander Could Have Been Wonder Woman

Jaimie Alexander, who has already impressed us with her actual geek cred in interviews about her appearance (as Sif) in Thor, but now she apparently would have made an awesome Wonder Woman, too?

If I got approached to play Wonder Woman, which has happened once or twice, I would have to say, “Look, let’s take this serious. Let’s make her a positive role model. Let’s make this a non-campy version of her.” Because I haven’t seen that done yet. Yet that’s essentially what I got to do with Sif in Thor. I got the best of both worlds.
