The appropriately named Pretty Sneaky stitches lovely knit covers to Converse sneakers. And the best thing about Converse sneakers for my purposes is that they’re unisex. All nerdy Converse come in women’s sizes by definition!
Obligatory joke: There’s an ood in the shoe.

About a month ago we posted this picture of a pair of pumps where the heel was a tyrannosaurus Rex, and did so with sadness. Because that blurry picture was all there was. There was no other evidence that the shoes actually existed or were available anywhere. Last week, however, Mike W. emailed us a link to his Instructables guide to making your own. While the components are cheap enough, it’s definitely still varsity level DIY (welding is involved). Still, check down in the comments for some ideas on ways to make it easier, and the rest of the post for all the pictures!

Look, I’m just as much against the glue-gears-on-it-and-call-it-steampunk aesthetic as everyone else. And so, no, I’m not really sure what function the mess of gears that adorn the custom shoes of possibly now defunct Etsy shop HotAirBallonRide could have… but I do know that the shoes have LED lights you can flick on with a switch. Look, Moffat, I like your work, but I still don’t understand anything of what happened in your seasons of Who. So here’s an alternate story: before Donna Noble could restore reality to its proper balance by defeating the Daleks as the Doctor Donna, the evil pepper pots were able to destroy these shoes for being way, way more awesome than they were, the end.D

This past holiday season I was traipsing around the Egyptian wing of the Metropolitan Art Museum and wondering, idly, when, exactly, a person’s life or death becomes so spectacular that thousands of years later we regard their physical remains not as a former human being but as a work of art. And, uh, what might be the easiest and cheapest way to do it today.
But history is giving us hints about this all the time, since a pair of Marie-Antoinette’s shoes have sold at auction for more than fifty thousand dollars.

The fan community being what it is is, there’s no shortage of non-licensed apparel you can get by seeking out the crafty denizens of Etsy and placing custom orders. But sometimes, you just want to order a shoe. DC and Converse have been partnering to make this happen for a little while now, and their latest offering features, for the first time, an entire pair of shoes devoted to Wonder Woman.
