  3. New Characters, Tons of Gameplay Shown for Pokémon Fighting Game Pokkén Tournament

I want this to be the very best.

Nintendo's been awfully buddy-buddy with Bandai Namco lately with the two working together on the development of the new Smash Bros. titles, which wound up featuring Pacman. They've got another joint fighting game effort coming our way in the form of Pokkén Tournament, which is super effective at getting us all excited. (Be aware of some NSFW commentary.)

  4. The Best Cosplay At The 2015 New Orleans Wizard World Comic Con

    Ooooh!

This past weekend, the New Orleans Convention Center held several events, including an arm wrestling championship and a formal Mardi Gras ball (I even heard a rumor of a barbershop quartet gathering on Saturday). But the event that turned everyone’s head was the 2015 Wizard World Comic Con, where geeks of all ages converged upon the Convention Center in a smorgasbord of colorful costumes and elaborate crafts.

  5. Dorkly Explains 7 Dark Yet Sorta Believable Fan Theories About Pokémon

    They're simply gastly.

As much as it is a mostly lighthearted franchise aimed towards children, Pokémon has its moments when it is inexplicably dark as heck—like, for example, that pokedex entry about how the Yamask carries a mask that, and I quote, "used to be its face when it was human." Ugh! What? None of these tidbits from Dorkly are confirmed, but I certainly wouldn't put it past the series as a whole. Yikes.

  7. On The Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Demo’s Quiet Misogyny

As a gamer, I know all about hype - and how, in retrospect, sometimes we overreact to small things. And one of the silliest overreactions I’ve seen recently was the sheer demand for the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demos. That’s right: not the game, the demo.

  16. Games for Girls? How About Games for Everyone?

Gender-neutral games are too hard to animate.

The portrayal and treatment of women in and around video games is a sore subject for a lot of us. It’s been talked about to death, and yet it still doesn’t seem like we’re making much progress. It’s a very polarizing but uniformly upsetting issue that lingers on in this otherwise great community like cat pee on an oriental rug.

  17. Things We Saw Today: The Illustration For “Human” In D&D Is Awesome

You mean humans can be not generically stubbly white males? GASP

The rules for the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons seem to be getting everything right. First, they're inclusive of all different kinds of gender identity. Now, they're even illustrating "humans" as not generic white male game characters. Thanks, D&D. You rule. (via Twitter)

  18. Actual Fish Plays Pokémon, It’s Not Very Effective, but It Is Fun to Watch

Look what Lord Helix hath wrought.

Living in a fishbowl is (probably) boring. So one Twitch user took inspiration from Twitch Plays Pokémon and rigged up a motion capture camera to allow his fish to play the original Pokémon games. I can't tell if Grayson the fish is enjoying it, but the odd mixture of the calming nature of fish in a bowl and the frustrating nature of someone playing a video game extremely slowly is oddly mesmerizing.
