And speaking of Pixar, the film previously known as Untitled Disney-Pixar Inside the Mind Film now has an actual title: Inside Out. It’s “told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of a little girl“ and is directed by Pete Docter, who also directed Monsters, Inc. and Up (via The Daily Blam, /Film)

Jessie from the Toy Story trilogy doesn’t get enough love. I want her, Mulan, and Chel from The Road to El Dorado to have a movie where it’s just 90 minutes of them riding around on horses having adventures. Merida from Brave can come too. Anyway. Artist Lyla Warren has brought Jessie to life with this awesome sculpture of her and Bullseye. Some detail shots are behind the jump, so you can get the full 3D effect, plus two other sculptures, one Disney and one Pixar. I particularly like Warren’s take on dragon Maleficent.

It’s about umbrellas who fall in love. It’s also an excellent example of the thriving trend of Tertiary Sexual Characteristics in animation.

I’m 99.5% sure I’ve seen this first TV spot for Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters, Inc. before—maybe at a screening of The Hobbit? If so, it was only at the first screening. I’ve seen it twice since, and it didn’t play either time. If I see the trailers for The Host, Oblivion, or After Earth one more time I’m going to snap. I’d rather just watch this 30 seconds of glorious Pixar monsters several times in a row instead.

I have a love-hate relationship with Threadless. On the one hand, I love their designs. On the other, I can’t make myself pay $25 for a t-shirt. It’s just not happening. But I can still admire the awesome tees that make up their new Toy Story collection from afar.
Kinda sucks that Jessie’s not on any of ‘em, though. Et tu, Threadless? Et tu?

Pinokio from Adam Ben-Dror on Vimeo.
To start your day off with some Pixar-related awesomeness: Shanshan Zhou, Adam Ben-Dror, and Joss Doggett have used some technological wizardry to create a real-life version of Luxo Jr., a.k.a. the Pixar lamp. Technically known as Pinokio (but it will always be Luxo Jr. in my heart), not only does the lamp recognize faces and interact with whoever it sees, it acts downright adorable doing so. It can even play peek-a-boo!

But what’s harder than animating more than 100,000 strands of hair? Recreating that effect with fondant. Click ahead for a close-up.

We’ll have to wait until Brave‘s DVD/Blu-ray release on November 26th to see in full the new Pixar short The Legend of Mor’du, which explores the backstory of Brave‘s deadly bear. But this quick preview gives us a good idea of the look of the film, which more resembles a storybook than the slick animation of the feature on which it is based. What do you think?
